Came up for air and found Alicia!

With so much bullshit on the air today I truly feel like it is hard to find "real" artists anywhere, whether it is on the radio or on television. Yet, there has been one constant during all of this, Alicia Keys.

Miss Keys has been the one shining light in a see of darkness. I feel she is the most dynamic artist to come out within the last ten years. She seems to be creating a legacy for herself that will stand the test of time. And although there have been other artists that put out great music such as John Legend, Angie Stone, Raphael Saadiq and the like, Alicia has had overwhelming success on the charts.

In the end what does this really tell us? Does it tell us that there is room for an original artist, who does not bend to the commercial pressure to make crap? Or is this an anomaly that cannot be repeated in this era?

Whatever the case I am just glad she has not subjected us to a Lauren Hill or D'Angelo-esque meltdown! That would probably cause a meltdown of my own.

FINAL NOTE: It is also nice to see a beautiful young woman not exploit her body or sexuality to gain record sales. Please Alicia keep the hope alive!

While I disagree with everything you mentioned, I really like this typo/spelling error. Intentional or not, it fits the context!

I was out of the loop for a while. I wasn't aware of the Hating Alicia Epidemic on the Org, but I am now!

Don't get it but, whatever. To each their own.

I respect that she plays, writes, sings, acts...all that. "Fallin" was awesome. But...

Ever since then I can't stand her music. It's such watered down run of the mill cut rate soul music. We have artists like Jill Scott and Angie Stone doing the real innovative female R&B thing, but it's always Alicia and Mary J with their mediocre songs topping the charts and I'm tired of them both.
I'll leave it alone babe...just be me
