Who did it better: J5 or Troop

All I Do Is Think of You (J5):

All I Do Is Think of You (Troop):

NOTE: The Jacksons took it to #50 on the R&B chart in 1975; Troop's hit #1 in 1990. cool

I love, love, love the J5 and their version, but I am unashamed to admit I prefer the Troop cover. They really hit it out of the park with this one. I dig the way they use a lot of stops, giving it a live feel. I also think Michael overshadows his brothers (obviously) while the harmonies are allowed to shine more with Troop. I realize I'm probably in a big minority, but oh well. It's a fantastic song either way. I think I'll spin them both right now. music

No love for B5's rendition, eh?

Seriously, I go with Troop for the reasons listed above.

J5 for me. I will give chuckii booker credit for
doing a nice version for troop whom i was not a big
fan of. Their hairstyles alone eliminates them against
J5. lol

J5! Troop's version is great

B5.....that shit was terrible, I remember when they performed it on 106 and Park and the lead singer couldn't hold a note if you gave it to him in a box with a ribbon on it lol

Troop did a great job. But, MJ vocals usually Kills anybody else's by default. lol

Usually, I agree, but not in this case. Maybe it's just Troop -- I also prefer their cover of "Sweet November."

I heard Troop's version first and hated it. I heard The Jackson Five's version later and couldn't stop thinking of Troop so that made me hate their version also. lol I just don't like the song no matter who does it.

Oh, I love some Switch, Heatwave, Blue Magic, Stylistics, Delfonics, etc. Also a lot of slow jams by funk groups such as Cameo, Lakeside, One Way, etc. Slow jams just have to have a sexy "bring a stranger home at 2 a.m. and sleep with them" type feel to them for me to like them.

As for "All I Do Is Think Of You", me hearing Troop's version first forever makes my brain feel like it's a late 80s slow song and the late 80s were horrible times for slow jams.

Sure, J5 is better overall and the original "Sweet November" is a classic, but I just prefer Troop's renditions because they sound better. Chuckii Booker did his thing on "All I Do Is Think of You"! But hey, I love Troop -- "Mamacita," "My Heart," "That's My Attitude," "Spread My Wings," "I Will Always Love You"... music

Chuckii was the man in the '80s. cool I love his own joints "Turned Away" and "Games". I also love the joint he worked with Diana Ross on ("Sugar Free").

You are so right that Troop sang "Sweet November" better than The Deele. It always bothered me that Face went flat on the note toward the end. He probably wouldn't do that now (because he's had a bit more training).

"All I Do Is Think Of You" just happens to be my favorite J5 song... they definitely hit a "homerun" here, but I must say that Troop hit a "grand slam".

Troop have to be the worst feckin' excuse for an R&B group I've heard form the 90s. Who the hell are they? I hate that song whoever does it anyway.
