Anyhoo, I think a lot of this is nitpicking. I disagree about the Cold Hearted choreography. If is a classic that to me stands on its own, and I've never looked at it and thought of Cold Hearted, which is also a classic.

Janet also had curly hair for the Control era, so...ultimately those were the popular hair and clothing styles of the period, which all 3 ladies helped popularize.

Cant say. But I know pebbles is my least fav. Both her first and second albums were kinda average. Never liked "girlfriend", though "giving you the benefit" is good though.

Reid & Babyface (Pebbles and Karyn, including a #1 duet with Face), Andre Cymone (Jody and Pebbles), Jeff Lorber (Karyn and Jody), had Johnny Gill sing guest backup vocals (Janet and Pebbles), sang a duet with a relative (Janet and Pebbles), and marry and later divorce one of their producers (Pebbles, Karyn, and Jody). I guess that's just a sign of the times (no pun intended).

yeah so much drama and so many connections!

You know what's funny though? Even though Janet's sales are low, people do feel her singles here and there and though she's not selling the way the younger female artists are right now, years from now, she might be put in the same category as them and still be around competing with the new school.

It's interesting but even though all four women became stars in the mid-'80s, only Janet had a consistent career.

Jody's, Karyn's and Pebbles' careers peaked at around 1993.

I don't know what the hell went wrong with Jody's career. It seemed she was destined to compete with Madonna and Janet for pop star status and yet as her music got more gritty, the industry pretty much turned their back on her but she's still continuing though.

Jody, I have to argue, has a consistent career too, like Janet. And both of them are heralded as legends.

Again, "Backyard" in 1991 was a #4 R&B hit. Remember, these ladies enjoyed more success from the R&B market (with the exception of Janet from Control forward).

Pebbles' last charted Billboard single was in 1995. "Are You Ready" peaked at No. 38 R&B.
