J5 or The Jacksons?

I love both groups, but which do you prefer? And what are your fave songs by each group?

Jackson 5:

1)I Am Love
2)Hum Along & Dance
3)Darlin' Dear
4)Never Can Say Goodbye
5)Moving Violation

The Jacksons

1)Show You The Way To Go
2)Blues Away
3)Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground)
4)That's What You Get (For Being Polite)
5)Time Waits For No One

I think overall, the J5 were funkier. I prefer The Jacksons overall though. Michael's voice was at it's peak during this time and I absolutely LOVE watching performances of The Jacksons. They were awesome music.
"And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ heart

"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always heart

the jacksons because they had artistic control over there output and they wrote songs and did productions and stuff. i also find that the jacksons albums are way stronger.

I like both eras. But I prefer The Jacksons during their run on CBS Records/Sony BMG.

The Jackson 5.
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

Fortunately, I can have both. My favorite Jacksons song is definitely "Show You the Way to Go." My favorite J5 is trickier, but I'll go with "Never Can Say Goodbye" or "Mama's Pearl" or "The Love You Save."

Jacksons for sure, though the Jackson 5 had very special moments here and there, especially on the later albums like Get It Together, Dancing Machine and Moving Violation.

Don't worry. Common reaction from Alex when somebody doesn't like an established classic. lol wink

And The Jacksons for me. Like J5 a lot too but they felt more like a Motown product. A product with good music no doubt, but a product.

I can't think of five songs I like by J5. since I was a kid, I've liked acts like the Dells or Gap Band or Cameo. Kiddie acts have never done it for me.

That's a pretty amazing catalog to not like anything. I mean, really:

I Want You Back
ABC
The Love You Save
I'll Be There
Looking Through the Windows
Darling Dear
Dancing Machine
Who's Lovin' You (the definitive version)
Mama's Pearl
Sugar Daddy
Stand! (another fantastic cover)
Reach In
The Love I Saw in You Was Just a Mirage
Maybe Tomorrow
Get It Together
I Am Love
It's Great to Be Here
All I Do Is Think of You

I do love their cover of stand and Dancing Machine and All I Do.... but as The Jacksons, I love entire albums. I love Push Me away more than I love any J5 song.

I'm sorry but to me that video is classic! I paid $1.99 a few times to watch that shit on The Box back in the day. falloff They had that little boy acting like a sassy little girl, snapping his fingers and waving his hands (it's about 2:00 in the video). Cracked me up! Awful shit.
