ORG WARNING: Forgive me for what I'm gonna post... (MJ related)

But I know this one person's opinion on why they should leave Michael alone is gonna bring some 100 replies (you only get five if you post music around here, lol):

Why is everyone against Michael Jackson?

I was writing in to ask, why is everyone around the world anti-Michael Jackson? This man was FALSELY accused, because of this, he has lost all respect from everyone. People are forgetting what this person has done to us. His song Thriller, sold 51 million copies around the world and nobody even cares?! He worked with his brothers in the Jackson 5, and had the best songs ever - I Want You Back, ABC, I'll Be There and much more. Everyone is just saying "Oh his music is garbage and he loves little boys." I suggest that you people actually try listening to his music then comment on it. He is the King of Pop, and INNOCENT.

So I suggest that you learn your history and listen before you make comments.
I would also like to say, that radio stations never play my song requests for Michael Jackson or Jackson 5. They make up a lame excuse saying they don't have it, and play some other random songs. If they don't have Thriller, how did it sell 51 million copies? By magic?

I have a reply to this: why bother writing that? hmmm MJ is probably one of the most polarizing figures in music history: either you love him or hate him. Big deal. shrug

Sorry again for this post, you can go back to your regularly scheduled programming. lol

Listen man...you are not alone....ooops,..sorry. Uh, You're not by yourself with digging Michael. I truly think you would be hard pressed to find many on this site that truly dislike this man. I for one, always liked Mike. Even though I hated to see him repeatedly put himself in the situations that he did. You probably won't find a bigger Jackson Five fan than myself. Ever since I was very little, I, like millions of others, grew up on the J5. One of the greatest acts in music history in my opinion. And then for Michael to come from that and then go on to be, STILL to this day, the biggest pop artist this world has ever seen is truly something.

I'm not as emotional as the dude who post it, lol, but yeah, it's amazing how his career practically reinvented itself, lol.

I'm more amused that this was as part of a news ticker on Google's Michael Jackson page. Well guess you have to have your positive to weigh the negative, lol.

Innocent or not, the music is as brilliant as it ever was.

If I had to stop listening to musical artists because of past behavior -- or even just alleged behavior -- there wouldn't be much left of my collection.

I'm sure that if one digs deep enough, even into religious music, one vould easily uncover a whole lot of "I have sinned!"

um thriller sold over 100 million..

but anyways... people love to ridicule others and michael is an easy target...

The same people on this board who laugh and joke about michael jackson would be crying and peeing on themselves if they meet Michael Jackson or saw him walk past.

So they are just fake. AND everyone likes MJ's music. They will deny it to your face. but check their computer and there will be a song or two. lol

I truly don't like Michael Jackson's music much anymore; for a while, I would've considered myself a fan. However, I grew out of the MJ thing pretty quickly and just can't get back into him. To me, he's "Disney". He's schmaltz. He's overblown. I'd say he's style over substance, but I do think he's genuinely talented. I just honestly can't imagine the outpourings of goodwill that he gets from his obsessives.

And I also don't really like the persona he projects. I know that I don't know the real Michael Jackson, but I've never met the real Michael Jackson. I only know what he's sold us, and what's been sold to us about him. Doesn't interest me. If that high-pitched voice is all an act, like his fans say, then I think it's even weirder than if it was his real voice. If he isn't this Peter Pan figure, and does have adult relationships, I think that it's even stranger that he wants to act like he is in a perpetual prepubescent state.

I'd never wish ill on Michael Jackson, and I'm pretty sure (not 100%, but close) that he was innocent, but the way his fanbase villifies Tom Sneddon and Court TV and the Chandlers, etc... blows my mind. Sometimes, when I read the MJ fan ramblings (not yours, Timmy), I wonder if these people don't have a statue of MJ in their house with INRI tacked over him.

And, yes, I do still have most of his catalog on my iTunes. I still love Dirty Diana and Human Nature. And I still think "Who is It" is an amazing tune, but I wouldn't cross the street to see Michael Jackson, let alone cry and piss myself. Although, at this juncture, I wouldn't cross the street to see Prince either.

shrug I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm not "against" Michael Jackson, and that I don't hate him. However, he's also never really done anything "for" me either. He made music that made people happy. That's about it. The man is no martyr, which I think is a big part of the MJ loon's beliefs.

Here's my 2 cents.

I liked MJ back in the day. I could care less what he did or didn't do the music use to be good. Lot's of musicians have done bad things. Let's face it, sometimes money brings power that is abused.

That being said, the guy hasn't really released anything in 7 years. And that album was Invincible. An ironic title considering he pretty much stopped making music after that.

...and that album was in my opinion pretty horrible. It didn't sell, and MJ made a stink because the record company didn't promote the album properly. People knew that it was out, it just sucked so people didn't buy it.

Look at the Britney Spears thing. People hate her and she still put out good music and it sold and got good reviews.

The fact is that nobody needs MJ's music anymore because Justin Timberlake is doing such a good job impersonating him. ...and his music is good enough to sell too.

If MJ could put out a good album then he could shush his critics. But my guess is that he can't, because if he could then he would.

Let's face it, he got old and out of touch like most musicians eventually do. Only Madonna is hanging on. ...and just barely.

The new music scene will be taken over by the Jonas Brothers and friends. I might as well cut my ears off. yikes!!

Just to clarify things a bit, I didn't write this piece myself. Some pissed-off fan decided to post his thoughts, lol. In a way I can understand why people would not dig MJ anymore and the guys that have posted about their feelings for MJ I can respect but at the same time, I can also understand why people overly criticizing him and forgetting the thing that made him popular in the first place (his music) can seem too much. For too long, MJ's been branded as the tabloid poster boy and over time as he is known for his now-classic and legendary music, he's as known for his tabloid coverage and the thing is we shouldn't let rumors affect how we view a person. Regardless, I'm sure MJ's still got one album in him yet. He's just taking his usual seven-ten year time to do it, lol.

I have to agree with AxChi696: MJ's incongruent persona is to blame for the way a lot of people receive him now. The race-switching surgeries, the skin-lightening to deal with his vitiligo (if that's true), saying you're a (presumably asexual) Peter Pan trying to have a lost childhood while being overtly sexual with adults onstage and in videos, trying to pass white kids off as your own progeny, and the weird PR stunts...

Hey, last night, I watched the complete "Smooth Criminal" video and was reminded why he was great once: He put out good music and entertaining videos. Today, he's coasting, lip-synching at performances (if he performs at all), and showing up to collect fake, lifetime awards at events. He's a caricature.

I will avoid the sideshow of MJ's personal life to focus on where (IMO) he started to get some public back lash: Thriller.

Thriller was the best and worst thing to happen to MJ and is really at the root of how many view MJ.

Musically-

Thriller was a monster in regards to airplay and impact on music. Whereas OTW was a natural progression of MJ sound (evolution from his days with the J5), Thriller was designed to be a commercial album. This is good in a sense b/c it introduced the world to his genius when it came to music vids and the pop/RB sound. It was a bad thing b/c when the formula worked for Thriller, he tried to replicate it several times over with different success.

From that point on everyone's expectations were to see MJ top Thriller and when he couldn't, claims of him being washed up were being heard louder and louder. It's the media game to knock the crown off of you head when you are on top and MJ (much like Prince-Purple Rain, Madonna-Like a Virgin) benefitted from MTV being in its infancy at the time.

MJ is not totally without blame though. It didn't help when the whole "KOP" moniker was slapped on him and his penchant for massive promotions (especially for HIStory) made him come across as a megalomaniac who lost touch with the who he was. His music became formulaic and the public, tired of the displays of ego and similar sounding albums, grew tired of him. It didn't help that he was, much like Prince, victims of the changing face of music where effeminate men were devalued in place of the hyper masculine he-men that dominated rap at the time. The soft spoken Peter Panesque thing didn't fly with the new public. Sure MJ is a legend and sold millions, but with the public it is always the question of "What have you done for me lately"?

My thoughts:

Personal life: Whether he did or didn't still remains a big deal with the public. And he kind of added fuel when he said on national tv "there's nothing more special than to share your bed with a child". So many bad statements and such he painted himself in a corner.

The Music: Thriller, a masterpiece and nothing else needs to be said. His main problem is that he has relied on Thriller all these years, and hasn't really advanced in the music department. While Prince and Bruce Springsteen have created other albums worthy of notice and talk since their biggest albums, MJ has not.
Michael seems content that Thriller was his crown and glory and doesn't want to move forward. I think many just want to see some more music.

I have all the Jackson Five, Jacksons, and MJ stuff. I am big fan and would love for Mike to come back and knock the industry on its ass.He doesn't need to be called the King of Pop (what the hell does that mean anyway). To me the name Michael Jackson stands for legend.
Love God and I shall 4ever Love u

its just stupid really they didnt repport it when michael had good days in court. and he had plenty because they didnt had a right story. i remember that some old employee did remember michael did all that stuff in like 92 but he didnt remember other stuff that happend around the same time ..gee how is that possible.

2nd i dont get it , how come that even though a audio file was leaked of that chandler dude claiming to ruin michaels carreer and he was going to find the meanest MF out there to destroy him. and still the truth doenst get across.

who would buy the other out? michael jackson offcourse he never led a normal life so dont expect him to the right thing , and he insurance company led him to that choice.
2nd of all if i was parrent of a child that has been molested by that dude i would cripple michael first then go to the police and not do dimond and sneddon.
and NO amount of money would ever justify the deed if true
