I'm sure this story is another lie about Michael Jackson. The are always rumors that Michael is going to appear on one of Simon Cowell's tv shows like American Idol or XFactor, and it never happens as I'm sure Michael wasn't contracted or interested in appearing on them.

This story sounds like nothing more people using Michael Jackson's name for publicity to promote American Idol, lot's of people do it including his family who claim Michael may join them in Devon.

From KOP-Board:

Simon Cowell was just on the Steve Wright show on BBC Radio 2.

He says every year they ask him to perform and his people agree, but he never performs. They keep asking in the hope that one day he will surprise them and perform. He says the story of stage fright is not true.

why even post the truth? nutcases are gonna ignore your post and continue to make their jabs! rolleyes

Simon Cowell: Tabloid Stage Fright Rumors "Not True"

Speaking today to Steve Wright on BBC 2, Simon Cowell of American Idol fame flatly denied the recent tabloid reports that Michael Jackson had pulled out of performing on American Idol this year due to "stage fright." Today, Emily Smith of The Sun quoted an anonymous source as saying that Michael Jackson cancelled an American Idol performance 24 hours before show-time due to stage fright, the article has since circulated amongst other media outlets. According to Simon Cowell himself, these rumors are "not true" and there were never any plans for Michael Jackson to appear on America Idol this year. Furthermore, Simon stated that, when the possibility of a Michael Jackson appearance on American Idol transpires, "you just say 'yes' and hope one year he will [appear on the show]." Emily Smith has repeatedly published false and erroneous stories about Michael Jackson in British tabloids; in 2006, Raymone Bain issued a press release which criticized Smith for attributing a "made up quote" to Raymone Bain.

New rumors of a Michael Jackson appearance and/or performance at many major awards ceremonies and finales frequently surface. In 2007, private business meetings held between Michael Jackson and Simon Fuller fueled rumors of a possible American Idol appearance. This year, Paula Abdul told Extra, "I think it's MJ...I have a sneaky suspicion," in response to the promotional hype: "The biggest star in the world will be performing." True, Michael Johns did perform, but not Michael Jackson. On American Idol, special guests, mentors, and performers generally appear only when they have new material of their own to promote; so it remains entirely possible that Michael Jackson will make an appearance on American Idol once he has released his new studio album. But this year, all rumors surrounding his possible AI performance are "not true."

This is what has always bothered me about Michael, its not so much the lack of putting out stuff, its the lack of controlling his own enviroment. It IS within his control to reign in the rumours/lies/truths whatever you want to call them at this point. BUT lets be truthful here, he doesnt want to, its the Jackson way to let the rumours fly regardless of what they are. To me that is a shitty way to treat your fans, have them hanging on this bull as if its gonna happen when he knows it wont. Its like the "boy who cried wolf", Michael has exhausted his "chances", he could come out tomorrow and say " this is the truth" and i wouldnt believe it, and im not even a fan. But like i said he could pull in the reigns and have control over what goes out there in terms of rumours and lies and truths, he could knock down a rumour in a second IF HE WANTED TO!! This is why it has always bothered me that he pulls his fans around like this, if you arent going to record anymore SAY IT, pull a Billy Joel and stick to it, Billy said after River Of Dreams he would never write a Pop/Rock song/album again and 15 years later, he has done that, he has toured only, no new albums, no Rumours every other day about working with this one and that one, total respect!
