Classic Raw Funk: O'Jays - "When The World's At Peace"

...

One of their raw funk numbers, from the album "Back Stabbers":

In the book, House on Fire, the story of Philly Soul, one of the members of the Chambers Brothers mentioned that in the early 70's, they worked on an album at Philly International, produced by Gamble and Huff, but the project ended up getting scrapped. Then he mentioned that "some of the stuff they ended up putting on those early O'Jays records--that stuff was intended for our record."

--Listening back now, I can hear what they mean, particularly the way that this tune breaks down through to the ending--- it's even got that ticking clock-cowbell, ala the Chambers Brothers' "Time has Come Today"....
