I Can't Listen To This Song From Mary J Without Crying...

I Love You

That small sampled part from Isaac Hayes' Ike Mood hits the chest like a heavy brick.

She really poured her blood and tears on this one.

Hell, come to think of it, the whole album got the voice of doom ALL over it boxed

I totally understand when she said that the album sounds abit "suicidal" sad

I literally tried to fight back the tears,,,,untill that song kicked in, thats when I couldn't contain myself sad

You can actually hear her sniffing and sighing and sounding like she was breaking down in tears during "Mary's Joint". Especially when she gets to the end of it. sad

What I love about Mary J. is that from the beginning she realized that she, like everyone else, needed to change. Her upbringing got her where she was, but it was also what was keeping her down. She had a bad reputation from the start, and she was working through some of that mess both personal and professional on this record. This song is one of the best ones on that set.

This is by far Mary's best album to date... In my opinion, with the execption of "Not gon Cry, everything else that she has done has been just so so.

YEP! "The Love I Never Had", I could tell she was crying by the end of the third verse when she said "AND I DOUBT YOU'LL SEE THINGS MORE CLEARLY!!!" She lost it after that!

Many of Mary's fans feel like My Life was her pinnacle.

I love that song, I remember hearing it all the time during the summer when it was released. I also agree that "My Life" is Mary's best album. Nearly every song on there is good, but I have to be in a certain kind of mood to listen to most of the songs on there 'cause although it's a great album, a lot of the songs on there are depressing as hell lol. I made the mistake of listening to that album not too long after I had broken up w/my ex and it only end up making me feel 10x worse lol . I wouldn't reccomend anyone listening to that album if you're feeling down.

"Mary Jane (All Night Long)" is my fave song on the album though, I listen to that one all the time music.
"And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ heart

"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always heart

nod Most definitely! What's the 411? and Mary are both excellent and the last two are quite good, but My Life is easily the best IMO. It's like a love letter to pain, the '70s, and the art of sampling.
