Judge to R. Kelly: Urine Trouble Now

Looks like R. Kelly will FINALLY face the music. His motion to continue his kiddie porn trial was just denied.

Kelly has gotten a string of continuances -- six years worth to be exact, which he toured and made a pile of cash. But now jury selection is scheduled for Monday. Have a nice weekend.

In the sex video, prosecutors say Kelly is peeing on an underage girl. Kelly has pleaded not guilty.

Looks like things are finally getting started. I find it interesting that they’re starting on a Friday only to have to break for the weekend. Do they work on Saturday or just Mon-Fri? Well, as long as it gets started I guess.

R. Kelly arrives at Chicago courthouse for pornography trial
May 9, 2008, 10:24 AM EST
CHICAGO (AP) -- R. Kelly arrived at a Cook County courthouse Friday to face child pornography charges filed after a videotape allegedly showed him having sex with a girl as young as 13.

Jury selection was scheduled to start in the Grammy-winning R&B singer's trial, which has been delayed for six years.

Another delay was possible after defense attorneys filed a motion Wednesday seeking to postpone the trial again. Judge Vincent Gaughan could rule on that request Friday.

The reasons for the motion were being kept secret, but it came as publicity surrounding the case heats up and some media speculated about who might testify.

Prosecutors will have to surmount several hurdles if they hope to prevail.

Chief among them is that the alleged victim, now 23, says it wasn't her. And Kelly's lawyers — including prominent Chicago attorney Ed Genson — haven't admitted it's Kelly in the video.

The 41-year-old Kelly, who has pleaded not guilty, faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

The centerpiece of the trial is the video footage, which Gaughan ruled may be shown in open court.

Prosecutors claim the videotape was made sometime between Jan. 1, 1998, and Nov. 1 2000, and that the girl was born in September 1984. Kelly was indicted on pornography charges June 5, 2002, after the tape surfaced.

It is unclear whether prosecutors have asked — or would be allowed — to tell jurors about accusations that Kelly allegedly had sexual relations with other minors, because some of the trial proceedings have been kept secret by the judge.

Media outlets, including The Associated Press, have filed a motion seeking to get court records and hearing transcripts unsealed. Gaughan said Thursday he would rule on that motion May 16.

Once the trial gets under way, it is expected to last at least several weeks.

Although he won a Grammy in 1997 for the gospel-like song "I Believe I Can Fly," Kelly's biggest hits are sexually charged songs like "Bump N' Grind," "Ignition" and his current single, "Hair Braider." He is due to release a new album in July.

I'm not even trying to indirectly defend R. kelly with the question I'm putting forth right now. IRL I've asked this question countless times to people who fit the bill.
Anyway, for those of you who watched, and even purchased, this video...WHY?? eek What compelled you to watch the rape and abuse of an underaged girl? I've seriously always wondered why anyone would even be slightly curious to watch such an event...

R. Kelly angrily hurls basketball at reporter at rec center

MARKHAM | His night in court

May 9, 2008

BY KIM JANSSEN SouthtownStar

For five turbulent years, the regular midnight basketball game in south suburban Markham provided R. Kelly's shelter from the stresses of the world.

But with jury selection expected to start today in his repeatedly delayed child pornography trial, Kelly's temper snapped early Thursday morning.

Kelly angrily hurled a basketball at a SouthtownStar reporter who asked to watch the game. lol

Then a towering, burly bodyguard escorted the reporter and a photographer from the Harold Murphy Recreation Center.

Pays park district $90 an hour

The 41-year-old R&B star, who now lives in Olympia Fields, has been a passionate basketball fan since his South Side childhood. He scored his best-known hit, "I Believe I Can Fly," on the soundtrack to the Michael Jordan movie "Space Jam."

Under an unusual arrangement, Kelly leases the publicly funded recreation center almost every weeknight between midnight and 2 a.m. to play hoops with his entourage, leaving his $460,000 Maybach sedan parked outside.

Park District officials say they gave special permission for the games.

Kelly pays $90 an hour for the court and the watchful eyes of two park district police officers.

Though Kelly's game is limited, an insider who has played against Kelly says the singer insists on playing point guard and "hogs the ball and shoots all the time." (I'd punched him in the mouth for hogging the ball.)

"His team wins every night or he gets upset," the insider said. disbelief

On Thursday morning, Kelly, wearing a headband, shorts and a tank top, stopped the game when he saw the reporter and photographer enter the gym. lol

As friends, including two young women, and a Markham Park District police officer looked on, Kelly lobbed the ball at the reporter, stood with his hands on his hips and motioned for a lackey to eject the unwelcome visitors. sexy

"This is a private event," one staff member said as the doors slammed shut. rolleyes

Plays hoops to 'blow off steam'

Kelly's media adviser, New York-based Allan Mayer, says Kelly uses the games to "blow off steam."

"R. Kelly has been looking forward to his day in court for a long time," Mayer said.

But Kelly's demeanor will be scrutinized in the coming weeks as observers throughout the world look for clues about his state of mind, said Glenn Selig, the public relations guru who has advised Drew Peterson in recent months.

"If I was representing [Kelly], first off I'd remind him that every step he takes will be analyzed, that people want to see someone who is not arrogant but who recognizes they are going into a very serious situation.

I watched the tape and I'm assuming that you've never seen the tape, beacuse the young girl is not the only person that R kelly has sex with on the tape, she's in the last scene... R.kelly has sex wth 2 women before the young lady
and I watched because i wanted to see for myself if it was infact R. Kelly and it is

This article reminded me of a blind item I heard awhile back that had R.Kelly written all over it but R playing basketball threw me off. Anyway it alluded to him to playing ball for a particular type of ‘pick up’ game and that it may not be just teen girls that interest him. Now it seems to fit perfectly.

Did you hear it on Wendy? She did something like that recently and I felt it was R Kelly and I dare say this, I don't doubt one bit he digs "the other team: too.

I never watched it. I do remember VH1 showing him sitting down on a bench or whatever in his house looking down at a camera and you can tell it was him.

And he has the nerve to plead not guilty. What a loser.

Yeah, I heard it on Wendy awhile back but didn't pay much attention. But then I read and heard innuendos altho no one actually comes out and says it.

I’m not surprised but it seems molesters and people who like control look for anything or anyone they control so gender is not an issue and I think even his brother said that R is heavily into control.

I've heard that too from his brother. R Kelly is simply a very sad and troubled individual and I feel sad for all the players involved in this situation.

Yeah Carey Kelly really exposed Robert in his video, I gotta find it again. Apparently when he was around Robert, he said Robert would always pick up little girls. He even said that at one time a fan tried to get him to sign an autograph and Robert lost it and hit the dude for no apparent reason. Carey then shouted to the camera: "R. Kelly don't give a fuck about y'all!"

That could explain why when fans shouted to him "WE LOVE YOU!" he just skirted to the courthouse. lol

disbelief

If he doesn’t get locked up for this he’ll be free to continue doing God knows what.

I’ll never forget flipping stations when that last album dropped—the one with the songs about zoo and dinosaurs—and I think he was doing an interview and when the crowd screamed it sounded like a bunch of 12 year olds. Are you serious? I almost swerved off the road when I heard the girls loving those f*cked up lyrics.
