There was an earlier Moonwalker game as well for home computers by US Gold, made during the time of the movie itself.

16bit:

8bit:

It was pretty typical license game dross of the time with compromised playability, and where all the levels were basically just separate sub-games. The Smooth Criminal level was probably the most playable, but the game was short and got pretty bad reviews also on the overall.

Actually, it's odd that I bought the game myself for C64 in the 80s. I'm not sure how familiar I was with Michael Jackson's music as a kid (I liked KISS and such), but for some reason I still got that game tape somewhere. I don't really remember buying it either, altough I still have more vivid memories of purchasing all those games as it was always a pretty special moment back then.

Actually these days I can't get past those diagonally flying zombies. That's a pretty early level.

I'm 26 yo...and I played the game alot. The best of living in the Azores at the time was that we got stuff years later than it's actual release.

Sega should put this on one of their "Sega Classics" compilation games that they release on the DS and Nintendo Wii store

A couple of gaming magazines have voted it one the worst video games ever but it would be a welcome addition because it has a cult following.

Not to mention MJ fans would buy it immediately.

With all that money MJ fans would cash out, Sega could return to making consoles lol

No it's true. Sega was making Moonwalker around 1992 or 1993 but cancelled the release
