I love Stevie on the talkbox! Sly did it on Sex Machine & Don't Call Me Nigger, Whitey from the Stand album. But for some reason, Frampton gets credit for being the first You know how it is.  I know some boob on YouTube is going "What? He ripped off Peter Frampton" without realizing Stevie did it in 1972, Peter did it in 1976!

Who came out 1st with the "helium sound effect",,,ya know the Camille-ish sound? Was it Bowie, George Clinton or Steve? I'm still trying to figure that out | |

Because the time "Maybe Your Baby" was recorded, David was in the final throes of his "Hunky Dory" years and was inching into his Ziggy Stardust phase and I don't think he started doing the Camille-ish effect until 1975's "Diamond Dogs". Of course Sly's came around '73. George took it to another level though after "Make My Funk the P-Funk (I Want My Funk Uncut)".
