Thank you for this article. I love it. It's true that if the music is good the fans will be there. It's not like she's catering to a finicky teenage demographic. Her fans will wait for her just like they wait for Sade. I just hope she doesn't make it a habit. lol

I love the idea of a live album through Starbucks. They may get me back as a customer afterall.

I gotta get me Honey sleeve!

I've pre-ordered this already via HMV. Can't wait.

Lenny Kravitz tomorrow and the Erykah on March.

Another great year for music

well, she was still touring alot (I've seen her 3 times last year alone) and appearing on different projects while raising her kids. I wouldn't exactly call that lazy. not exactly productive project-wise. but she's been busy.

Sorry - i don't know her stuff well enough sad

She played annie-panties (that's hard to forget), love of my life, an old-skool hip hop medley, and heaps of other great stuff that I just don't know. Oh yeah, and a version of All Night Long

Give me some names of trax and I'll try to remember...

Universal is targeting coffee shops and trendy cinemas in an effort to expand Badu's artsy niche market. "Honey" is playing before films at national indie theaters across the country, while the psychedelic "Nu AmErykah" cover art is gracing coffee-cup sleeves at an array of outlets.

Universal is also employing the burgeoning USB stick technology for the release. Fans who purchase the album in this format can access exclusive videos and Web content (including a Badu-created photo flipbook) that will be updated monthly.

I'm SO looking forward to Erykah's new music. The "Honey" single is great, but fairly "paint by numbers" Badu, which is smart since it's the first single. But, I know she has all sorts of tricks up her sleeve and I'm dying to hear the album tracks and all the great, interesting, and crazy stuff I know she has in store.

Mama's Gun is an unheralded masterpiece. Granted, it gets a lot of love among the fans, but it deserved more recognition, including awards.

You do? lol My favorite part is HOW she says. "Help da bear." She's dead serious.

You know in my mind, Erykah is a superheroine. She certainly has the costumes. Her comic name would be Analog Girl. biggrin

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

There, there, Supa! comfort

She could have just grabbed some songs off a shelf, stuck a badly photoshopped cover on it and released one sub par album a year, like someone else I could name but she didn't because she actually appreciates her fans and only wants to give us her best! giggle

Yes, a half a damn decade, you can't rush perfection, man! Here's what I'm predicting we'll get for our patience...an album that we'll be able to enjoy from beginning to end, every freaking song a masterpiece. Innovative, creative and inspiring music videos and one out cold, off the hook, funky ass tour.

touched

I think it'll be worth the wait. biggrin

Ya know? rolleyes lol

I mean, her, D'Angelo, L-Boogie and Maxwell are suffering from the Sade syndrome. WHY? Beats the hell outta me.

We can make excuses for these shiftless ass bums all day long but look back at the 70's and you'll realize that Ms.Fine Thing and her friends have it easier, WAY easier. Don't even hint to me that inspiration don't get rushed coz I don't fall for that, its cliche and a lame way-out, please.

Hell, in this era of lifeless, bland, non-characteristic, unsincere and safe music, I need something to stimulate me for the long run,,,not the LONGEST run!! shit. Coz 5 years ain't gonna cut it, Jack

Maybe I'm way too demanding,,,but who could blame me? Its a sad state to be hyping Erykah for being the ONLY person in mainstream music with guts and individuality. I even feel sad for the bitch,,,,you need some tough competition to make you upgrade your level and I don't even think she has any, not that I'm aware of.

YES!! YES YES! There is so much more that can be done to reach audiences today than it was in the 70's. Million dollar signing deals were almost unheard of back then. Erykah blatantly said she didnt wanna promote Worldwide cuz "i didnt feel like it". THEN she had a baby.... oh well.
