Early 90's R&B (1991-1994)

Was this not a great feaking time for R&B. These are my earlierst memories of music, and R&B was awesome for these years. Post some R&B tumes from this time period:

Its all diluted rubbish now except bobby v.

With the exception of Bobby Brown, it was quite forgetable.

This was my favorite time 4 R&B when it DID NOT sound like Hip Hop. Jodeci was my sheeeeeiiiiit!

Some of it was disposable, some of it was comical, and some of it holds up pretty well. I'd say Mint Condition, Mary J. Blige, and some of Jodeci's work were among the standouts for me. Other acts like TLC and SWV made good, fun music.

But it wasn't going to hold a candle to the soul music of the 60's or the 70's, and in many ways, such as it is, the R&B of the late 90's and this decade is better.

The r&b I loved best from then was janet, brandy, tlc, boyz 2 men, all for one, mary j blige, mj, aaliyah

The GREATEST song to come out of this period was the Dells' "A Heart is a House for Love". A classic mid-tempo cut from a classic group. Thanks to the "Five Heartbeats" movie, I got to know about the Dells.

Gimme Dat Honeh Lu-uh-uv!!!! {Insert You're In.....I mean, Urine Joke, Here.}

These were some great years for house music. As for music that was all over R&B radio at the time, it was boring as hell.

Starting in 1990, this was the period where hip-hop was emerging as the dominant style of influence on soul music. There still was some differentiation, but by 1994 both genres of black popular music merged into one.

oh hell yes, I was in 6th grade when this song came out!!!! It takes me back to who I had a crush on at the time. Damn i miss the 90's!!!!

I always believed that the R&B that came out in the 90's was the last great decade for good R&B music. Especially when Jodeci came out....those were my boys!!!!!
