Prince didn't invent the Linn drums; that's why they are called LINN DRUMS - after Roger LINN - not Rogers Nelson. Its easy to find a sample of a Linn drum. They're everywhere on any vintage drum sample CD. To say that Timb sampled them from Prince is basically starting a rumor that is probably untrue.

You dumb ass, Prince pioneered the use of Linn Drums in his songs,
he used all sorts of effects on the Linn Drums that sound like nobody elses.

Along with Harold Faltermeyer, Jan Hammer and a few other pioneers, Prince used the Linn Drums to serious maximum effect in a lot of his songs in 80s.

Justin timberlake is a shit hole and so is timbaland, both untalented wankers.

What is so great about a shite song with a crappy voice of Justins on it?
he cant even sing, has no talent and is an inbred hillbilly.

You seen how timberlake looks, what with his ugly shit face, and no charisma.

We all Know Justin Fucked Timbaland for tracks, and not just any fucking,
he butt fucked him cos he wanted timbaland on every track.

When JT first released his solo stuff, the org response was mostly positive.
Beyonce had a lot of praise when she first went solo. I remember when her name was posted on L4OA. Now, that they are getting more successful the org is attacking. Why?

Should we all drink some Haterade?

With Justin, this song is an obvious attempt at nearly covering Prince (just like Diddy's "Last Night", another song I like a lot). I think one issue people have with that is that Justin gets so much praise. But in general, Justin bashing is mostly about his attitude and the dumb things he says to sound like a bad boy at times...when mass media in general is kissing his ass and treating him like a golden boy. He has his cake and eat it, too. Maybe we should be mad at the mass media for constantly giving him a pass (people are still upset about SuperBoob, where he got away with it and Janet is a pariah).

With Beyonce, she simply made a weak follow up, if you ask me and is doing everything in her power to make it success with all the rereleases and the video set. The way "B'Day" was marketed and talked about by Beyonce, it sounded like a shot of inspiration that lead her to make this album very quickly....when in reality, it's just a rush CD. All the rerleases and padding aren't helping matters. I don't have any issues with Beyonce in general, but she says stupid shit pretty often, too.

At first I thought Timberlake was some no-talent facade for the hip producer du jour. Like Britney.
But in time I found out he is actually very talented. He writes, plays and produces, and he is positively a great performer.
I was at a show of his a while ago in France, it was taped for some MTV special or something, and he was really good. I was very impressed.
I'm curious to see how he develops, he's still a young guy.

Justin is very talented. This song does sound like it's Prince inspired, but that's just how you know Prince is the best. Usually everyone that tries to emulate him musically is successful. You can't go wrong copying Prince.

I know I'm late but I just watched JT's FSLS HBO special from MSG. There's an intro interview where the group is asked, Who are your heroes? JT says Prince and Stevie Wonder. I was waiting for Michael Jackson never mentioned him. The show was pretty good. I think his playing the guitar and piano was not bad either (he's been practicing). His dancing was probably the best part though. I sooooo wish Prince would do this on HBO even if he has too put it in a format that doesnt allow copying....

Her album is already a success...its 3x platinum...and it was over 2x platinum at the time she did her re-release. Same as Justin's. JT is getting ready to re-release his album & this will be the 1st single from it.

Dumb ass? lol
I see someone has been mixing their meds with alcohol in their purple kool-aid.
I guess the fact that Stevie Wonder (who used them before Prince), Phil Collins, Human League, Depache Mode and The Art Of Noise as well as Todd Rundgren and Gary Numan also helping in popularizing the use of the Linn Drum (the LM-1) is easily overlooked when you have selective memory. You don't "pioneer" the usage of a drum sound, you popularize it. Since the song has a Linn sample with a flanger and reverb on it, it COULD be a sample from "The Beautiful Ones" or it could be a sample of a Linn Drum with a flanger on it. Incidently, the shaker in the background running through the song ALSO HAS A FLANGER ON IT. Could it be that they recorded it in Protools and assigned a flanger to BOTH TRACKS? Before you start making blind accusations, please know the possibilities. As to all of the other crap about Justin - I'm no fan. I can roll with most of what you said. Despite that, this is probably one his better songs, along with Lovestoned and "Pose". Everybody hits on a couple of good songs here and there. Its not just him and Timbaland but a whole team of folks contributing to the project. They don't all suck.
Next time before you start shooting off at the mouth, come correct and know what you are talking about, k?
Peace.

shrug That's the way of the org sometimes, I guess. I personally don't get it either. The guy actually goes on stage and does his job. He doesn't lip-sync. He plays more than one instrument. He dances. He is present and takes part in the production of his albums; and he has written many of his songs, regardless of how many people say he hasn't (many of those people probably haven't watched a single behind the scenes of Justin doing anything because they are still going off that Superbowl fiasco....yeah, they're smart rolleyes ) I love how people don't like Justin because they say he says dumb things during interviews, but nobody has put their foot in their mouth more than Kanye West, yet everybody loves his ass; but whatever. Kanye is a talented guy, but then someone gives him the mic when he's not performing and something dumb always comes out of his mouth. I can always count on Kanye to give me a good laugh. lol Justin even talked about how much he admired Prince and stated how amazing he was on a interview that he did on MTV at the end of last year. He also admitted to using David Bowie as an inspiration on FS/LS as well as Prince during that interview, so he never denied that he wasn't using Prince as a model for this album. He'll never be Prince, but I don't think he really wants to be. He even stated in an interview a few years ago that he didn't want to be touring when he was over 40. Sorry, but the guy has talent. Even if people don't dig his sound; he's better than a lot of other artists that are big right now. But, hey, let people hate him....he's not too sad about it, I'm sure. As for Beyonce. I didn't like Destiny's Child and I don't like her, but I have no problem admitting that the girl can sing and she's representing for girls who don't wear a size 0. She's got talent; but, like Justin, they are both a little over-exposed at the moment, which is probably a main reason why people aren't liking them right now. Hey, Britney's over-exposed too, has no real talent, but people will probably go and buy her new album which she paid others to make for her, but she'll be praised by many on here who are probably dogging Justin and Beyonce disbelief Lovely how they praise the ones with little to no talent but hate on the ones who go onstage and give 100% in their performance, but whatever. Just my twocents and my opinion isn't law, so shrug

Haven't heard the remix yet, don't plan to. I don't normally like remixes where they add a female/male, I don't know why but its sort of corny.

And yes Justin stay biting off of Prince and Mike. Especially Prince these days? FutureSex/LoveSounds (or whatever the hell the name of his album is called)?? Could it have been any more blatant? eek

I always wondered why there was so much animosity on the org with JT and Beyonce. Especially JT. He's never been a bad singer, and he sings live rather than lipsyncs. Not only that, but he's shown that he's very much behind his music and doesn't just let everyone do it for him. Most importantly, he delivers quality pop music. With all this, people on the org still like to bash on him.

Same with Beyonce, though I think with her it's just a matter of overexposure plus the fact that she's not only beating a dead horse with BDay, but she's actually doing a decent job at it!

I guess it's a generation thing. I got the shit kicked out of me here in the org for saying this, but I'll say it again: What Billie Jean was to people in the 1980s, JTs songs such as My Love are to this generation, or at least seem like there headed in that direction. In the end, both songs are just top quality pop music. All I'm trying to say is that people should bite their tongue when they try and proclaim when JT's clock will stop running. Look at Madonna. Everyone said that she would be over and was just some talentless fad, and now look at her. Ironically, even to this day you still get those that say that she'll be over anytime now lol

Next time before you start shooting off at the mouth, come correct and know what you are talking about, k?
Peace.

Come on, man. That beat is The Beautiful Ones through and through. I don't think anyone is saying Prince invented the Linn Drum, but I'd be interested to see if you could show us an example of another song from another artist that sounds so UNCANNILY like this one as The Beautiful Ones does.

Ugh, I like this song. Damnit...

Could it have been any more blatant? eek

And I forgot to mention the melody of the song sounds so familiar eek Thats the first thing I thought of when I had heard it.

YOU are the one who thinks its sounds "uncannily like The Beautiful Ones" not me. People made the same claim about Ciara's "Promise" which was NOT a sample of Prince at all. The Linn drums in "Promise" don't even sound the same as the ones Prince used. A lot of PRINCE FANS hear the Linn and immediately think PRINCE. If you removed the drums from "Until The End Of Time", Prince's name wouldn't even come up. The vocals are Michael Jackson all the way. The melody is not like the Beautiful Ones, either. The chord progression is totally different. People hear what they want to hear. The resemblance is only in the PLACEMENT of the Linn drum in the beat. Its a straight 4/4 beat and Prince DID NOT invent the straight beat. Its called a "march" beat and any beginning drummer can tell you that. Prince would sue if it sounded like his song and everyone on here knows that. If we know nothing else about dude, we know he likes to get the lawyers involved in everything. The only other similarity I hear is the overall "lush" sound of the track due to the strings and the amount of reverb used on the song itself. That's hardly a technique that can be credited to Prince.

I ain't talking about the melody or chords. I'm talking about the beat. I don't care who said what about some Ciara track either. Your ears should tell you that this beat is UNCANNILY similar to Prince's beats from 1984, specifically The Beautiful Ones. You are doing yourself no favours if you deny that. And by the way, this track really ain't shit. It has one great thing about it, and that's the beat. But then Prince made tons of great beats in the mid 80s so if you're gonna scavage around for things to steal from, that's the place to go. Timberland obviously ain't as dumb as he looks.

Well I listened to the song again. Not bad. I like it still, but a bit on the boring side. His vocals are so bland and mediocre...

I don't get Timberfake at all. Dude's overrated if you ask me.

Its a straight 4/4 beat at ballad tempo! Damn, man! Its as old as time! Most of Prince's songs back then were straight 4/4 march tempo beats with the exception of songs like "Lady Cab Driver". HE DIDN'T INVENT THAT BEAT. Are you brand new? Prince must have been the first music you heard or something? I was pretty clear about the similarities; so far all you have done is spout fan ramblings. I know why everyone thinks they sound similar and I have already stated that. No matter what you "claim", that's not going to change. Around here with most Prince fans Linn Drum = Prince. But guess what? There's a lot more music in the world. I suggest you get to know some of it before you start up with me.
