As a person who is part black and has lived in harlem and has dealt with my share of racism... From the black community... Its my assumption that the black community abandoned MJ... His skin color changed, and he gave no variable explanation for it... so they said to hell with him... Alot of black folks love mj, but hold that secret racist animosity towards him... because to them he kinda betrayed the culture... as if their culture is so sacred... when they've abandone it themselves... Not to generalize but black people are the most racistly ludicrous cats... I've seen and heard things like half breeds, disgrace the community (hell even light skins) They fight with themselves 90% of the time So just because MJ isn't accepted anymore by the black community doesn't mean shit Cause look around... The black community aint shit... The real question is What has MJ done for the community... Alot... shelled out cash to save Gary indiana... Bought, than donated new text books for inner city kids in L.A. NJ and NYC... when he bought the atv catalogue, All the black artist on it , he gave them their publishing back... including the originator Little Richard... check yo self... There were also black churches that were burned down that he paid to be rebuilt. Michael didn't abandon the black community IMO. Our community turned their back on him. We'll support artists who haven't done anything but embarrass us yet when it sometimes comes to Michael, it's a different story. We'll defend OJ and R.Kelly before we defend Mike, and that's a damn shame "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Sure, Michael still has black fans, but if you listen to black, urban radio it is the "Old" vintage Michael they still hanker over, MJ from 69 to 84.
You know black folks ain't gonna stand in the hot ass sun in front of a courtroom! Not even that. Santa Maria's Black population is like 0. It's something like a 5 hour drive from Los Angeles, the nearest city with a relative high percentage of Blacks. And even then there were bus loads of black people from LA( boarded buses at 4 am) who made it to the arraignment. I'm positive there would have been a better representaion had the trial been held in a city with black citizens. Cause what I can see, black people STILL love Mike. Like the Virgin signing - mostly black people there.

I got to find Katie and her cousin Neka to tell you some shit, cause what happened in Santa Barbara was crazy. Don't Push Us Away http://www.mjj2005.com/ko...=24413&hl= Strange thing is, I agree with both sides of the argument. I'm weird like that Yes I know its a long thread to read (11 pages) but its worth the read. Anyway, the stories they told about their experience amazed me beyond belief. There were so many racists in the neighborhood, I was floored at what happened to them and all the black folks who came to support Michael; which as someone mentioned, were a few but NOT because blacks didn't support him. Also, I too, remember so many black celebrities supporting Michael everywhere from Rick James to Will Smith and LisaRaye. Something about Michael, no matter what dumb shit he gets himself into, we black folks always have his back - regardless of those whom will not admit it. BET actually stopped running their regular 106&Park programming to cover the trial (during the announcing of the verdict) and had commentary with Doug E. Fresh, Jackie Reid and Free and A.J. (and of course the audience). I have it on tape too. When the verdict was announced NOT GUILTY over and over everybody was screaming, crying, yelling...you could just feel the love we all have for Michael just by watching it on television and in your heart. Yes I know this sounds corny but shit, its the truth. Doug E. Fresh also said some stuff (post-verdict) that I've got to type out to post here because he explained everything how we were feeling down pat. [Edited 9/28/07 21:08pm] White Americans, what? Speaking of black fans at the trial. I saw this one freak-as-hell picture of a little black kid who looked just like MJ at age 11. No joke. It was freaky. Exactly like him minus the afro. It was unbelievable. I'll try to find the picture. Has anyone else seen it? It was a picture of the MJ-looking kid and what I assume to be his brother and sister. The picture was posted on some MJ forums and there was a heap of discussion about how similiar the kid looked to 11-year-old-MJ. So other fans must've seen it at some point.

LOL. Well I love her
You know what I hate? When people try and compare Michael's case to OJ's. THERE ARE NO SIMILARITIES. Two completely different cases, background, prosecutions and most especially, the JURY. But because they're both black and were found not guilty, somehow Michael must of been falsely aquitted like OJ theres some correlation. For one, OJ's jury was very much black, was it not? The jurors in the Michael Jackson case was all white, conservatives from Santa Barbara, Calif. I think that speaks volumes. Oh yeah, and... Don't you snap your fingers at me lady Anyway, this is what Doug E. Fresh said: "...to be very honest, I just got off a plane cause I was in Atlanta and we did...a lot of events now and then. When I got the plane and I got the call, I was saying to myself "They said the verdict was in" - the whole car just felt like stress. You know what I mean? Because for some strange reason, you know when you look at Michael Jackson you see yourself even though, you know, you can tell he's been through a lot, and goes through a lot. But you can see, thats your brother right there you know what I'm saying? So when you look at him or you think he's in a position he's about to do a large sentence...and you look at how you grew up with him, its - I don't care who you are - you are gonna feel some kind of emotional impact." Picture time.. Negro College Fund Awards There used to be a video of this on YouTube, but of course its been removed for copyright infringement. The Barry White Funeral It still pisses me off how his passing didn't gain much coverage at all. All I remember was P.Diddy wearing a RIP t-shirt at the VMAs. James Brown Funeral I had no doubt in my mind Michael would be there. I love when after Michael is done with his speech and is about to go back to his seat, everyone in the audience was screaming his name because they thought he was leaving and Al said [in the mic] "Don't worry Michael ain't going no where". http://youtube.com/watch?v=jGbpRIbz4Zo DON’T MESS UP THE PERM Raymone and her blonde weave.. I don't intend to be mean, but...I always wondered how Michael manages to sneeze White Americans, what? Nothing better to do? Why don't you kick yourself out? His family are black and he has black friends. This is not about him having a black family, who he obviously loves, or black friends or even a black wife for that matter... so posting loads of pics with Whitney, Quincey, his own family and at James Brown funeral to try and prove that he is close to black people is a bit of a mute point. I am talking about the way people and black people in particular perceive him now in comparison to 30 or even 25 years ago. Large portions of the black community think he is the biggest sell out there is, regardless of his charity work with the black community

I think the above quote is also very true. Many black people did see him grow up and they do have an emotional connection with him, but that doesn't stop them believeing he is a Sell-out. During the child abuse trial I knew people who grew up with him and his brothers music and inspite of all those good memories they believed he should be in jail, as much as it would have hurt them to see him convicted. So yes, there is an emotional pact there but that still doesn't stop people saying "WTF" about him. [Edited 9/29/07 3:31am]

You come off sounding like you've done this door to door poll of all black people, lol. I remember when Michael came to Detroit in '98. He was involved in some business deal with this black millionaire business man about building a casino. He was met at the airport by THOUSANDS of black people. I remember my girlfriend saying it was like the '80s again. He stayed there for like 3 days and the people were going crazy for him. My boy Stevie Wonder happened to be there at the same time, but they were going crazy for MICHAEL. Same thing when he met with the Black Caucus in DC couple of years ago. He was treated like royalty. They were lined up just to shake his hand! At James' services, there were LARGE PORTIONS of black people cheering him on. And because we as a people are so opened and honest with our feelings, he would NOT get this type of response if he were so poorly thought of. So that 'large portions' ish ain't cuttin' it. And MOST African American believe MJ is innocent. Polls revealed this. So who cares about those ignoramuses who believe otherwise. Bottomline is Most Black people still love, appreciate, and believe in Michael Jackson. And we will see this in full force when his new record drops
