What has 50 done that's dope? I Get Money? Its a sample. I liked "Top Billing" much better because at the time, it was original.
"Amusement Park"? - decent track but the rap is as garbage as "Candy Shop" was
"Straight To The Bank"? - "I Get Money" part 1, right? GARBAGE
"Ayo Technology" has the most amateurish rap I have heard in years. Basically its 50 rapping (if you can actually call it that) over one of Timb's throwaway tracks and Justin Timberlake trying to regain some street love because he knows black folk still hate him over that Janet fiasco at the superbowl.
"Follow My Lead"? 50 sucking lyrically once again with basically the same subject matter as always when it comes to women with Robin Thicke doing a weak ass D'Angelo impersonation. Where are these "dope" songs? If these are dope, I guess it doesn't take much to get you high.

R&B is Bullshit since the late 70's early 80's

Exactly. After 1984, it started going downhill and by the time 1990 arrived, it was complete bullshit.

I think his opinion matters in this case. Since R&B these days stands for "Rhythmless Bullshit" and he's successful at making it, who's better qualified to give an opinion of who will be successful at making rhythmless bullshit?

Now, I don't think she is great, but I like the fact that she ISN'T trying to be a Mariah or a Whitney. She is doing her own thing and she's successful at it.

Oh really? I've never heard of her. Does she make hard uptempo funk? If not, then she's making boring music so therefore she is trying to be another Scarey or Shitney who also make nothing but boring music. lol

You're kidding, right? Like vainandy likes to say, by the early 1990s acts virtually stopped making uptempo music and went to some downtempo music that wasn't a ballad but also wasn't necessarily uptempo. There is a reason a lot of songs released today sound like songs released in 1994 -- the artists today don't have an idea of creating music, just programming beats.

TotalAlisa, you don't know Vainandy very well here in the org like most of us do. lol

Unless we're talking about funk, the whole funk, and nothing but THE Funk, forget about it. He totally dislike most of the artists you mention because their music is too weak for him.

VA loves Janet, but hates everything that came after Rhythm Nation 1814.

VA also think Babyface should have never abandon the synth-funk sound be once had as a member of The Deele.

VA like to hear hip-hop beats at a more uptempo style (THINK: Hammer, Oaktown357, 2 Live Crew, The Egyptian Lover).

I agree. I would say the only late 1980s and 1990s artist that would come closest to offering the slamming grooves I like are Teddy Riley and Keith Sweat.

The best thing to come out of the late 80s/early 90s was MINT CONDITION. I hated that Teddy Riley bullshit. Dude sold one groove over and over with different choruses. Yep, yep.

Oh come on. Damn, I don't even like Beyonce but lets be real here. Most people still don't know who Ciara -- she is not an international superstar. Although I will give her the benefit of the doubt, seeing she has only came out in 2004.

50 Cent, ugh. I'm a casual Kanye West fan, but I'll be buying his latest album just to spite him. He was just digging his own grave. I can't tell you how many blogs/forums where users were declaring they were going to purchase Kanye's album falloff

I hated that Teddy Riley stuff too. Mint Condition was too slow for me. The only thing I liked that came from the late 80s/early 90s was folks making house music such as Martha Wash, Black Box, Crystal Waters, The 49ers, Cee Cee Peniston, M People, Two In A Room, Jomanda, etc. It was like the disco era all over again. lol

they had a lot of fast jams. Pretty Brown Eyes just got over promoted. The label tried to make them Ready For The World of the 90s when they are much more than that. The label pushes their slow jams but their CDs are pretty evenly divided. From The Mint Factory and Definition of a Band are full of funk.
As for 50 - Beyoncé is way bigger than he'll ever be so whatever he says about her is irrelevant. Ciara is probably the next Janet as Chris is probably the next Usher, but who can't see that?

The main reason "THE FUNK" is gone from RB, no one plays anymore! Live RB Music and bands that play went out like 8-track players and the Laser Disc Player. Good luck finding an RB band that plays, im not talking about a bunch of dudes with open shirts singing some bullshit that Ne-yo wrote for them. And the thing is even if you found an RB band that plays think HOW HARD it was to find them and how sad it is that it was that difficult to find. What killed RB, Timblaland,Pharrell,Riley etc... BEATMAKERS, plain and simple, sure theres a market for everyone but the problem is there isnt a market for everyone. Think of the things that pollute your airwaves 24/7, and then wonder why we get quotes like Ciara is the future of RB. Lets also remember that BEATMAKERS no matter how popular did not create MUSIC they pieced together someone else's music.

I predict for a real live r&b/soul/funk band to become a success story by gaining a cult following in the United Kingdom & Europe in general. That's the way to go at the moment.

EDIT: I'll save my beatmaker comments for a future thread.
