I've seen it twice already. The trailers do it absolutely no justice. Bootsy and the band do an amazing job with the music.

Superbad To Bring The Super Funk
Legendary musicians came together to create chunky grooves for the high school party film.

The soundtrack for Superbad promises to live up to its namesake thanks to the participation of some of funkdom's most legendary musicians.

Slated for an August 7th, 2007 release, Superbad: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack took things to the next level by having composer Lyle Workman and music supervisor Jonathan Karp create a veritable funk supergroup featuring legendary musicians from the James Brown and Parliament/Funkadelic legacies. Workman's score was performed by bassist Bootsy Collins, drummers Clyde Stubblefield and John "Jab'o" Starks, guitarist Phelps "Catfish" Collins and keyboardist Bernie Worrell.

The dream team hadn't played together in years, so it's a sure shot that the resulting jams to be featured in the film and on the soundtrack will be nothing short of thick and turgid.

Mixed in with Workman's new fangled funk will be some veritable classics from the likes of The Bar-Kays, Curtis Mayfield, and other luminaries of the genre.

Superbad: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Track Listing

01. Super What? - Lyle Workman
02. Too Hot To Stop - The Bar-Kays
03. Seth Pulls Into Lot - Lyle Workman

...Their second album (Yoyo) was produced by Todd Rundgren and yielded the beautiful single I Don't Mind At All

He was part of Todd Rundgren's Nearly Human album and subsequent tour.

Lyle Workman was half of the dual guitar onslaught (Dominic Miller being the other half) Sting put together for his Live 8 performance.

That'd be enough for me, but for those that would demand more credentials (why I don't know)...

...a small sample of the recording projects he's been involved with.

Oh yeah, add a Beck tour or two.

Now unless he's gonna try and tell Bootsy, Catfish, Bernie, Jabo & Clyde exactly what notes to play where, even if he was a nobody, I don't think there's gonna be a problem. wink
