falloff I know right! This list is thoughtful, but it's botched and full of BS in so many ways.

The only reason I see it being on the list at all is for album sells. I went 9 million or diamond.

Hammer, B Brown and Guy should be on her instead of Confessions.

Why did I bother, the beatles, U2 and Led Zep as overepresented, as usual. Only one album from Stevie, Jimi and Radiohead. Nothing from P-FUNK, Sly (Riot is at least top 5) or James Brown.

Now, Usher's Confessions was a fine album and all, but I think you made a good point LittleBLUECorvette! Much of the list just consist of crappy blockbusters that had memorable singles and the RIAA sales to match.

nod I agree with your highlights completely. Not only are they not top 200 material, many of them aren't even mediocre.

I agree, this list blows. Nothing from James Brown?!?! Also should be a couple Zappas on there, and.... well, screw it -- this list is terrible. Definitive 200? Please.

The thing that stands out of not just this list but any all-time list is the lack of R&B/Funk/Soul LP's and the mostly Rock filled list. Hell rap albums get more love on these list the R&B records.

I counted 29 R&B/ect. total and albums and only 10 coming in the top 100!! The other 19 can between numbers 105 and 196.

Also of those 29 album, at least 5 could be considered hip/R&B likr TLC's, Usher, Beyonce, Destiny's Child and R.Kelly's who's all made the top 2000.

hmmm Where did you think it should've been? shrug I've read at other boards that they wanted the album at number-one and were upset that a specific band had the number-one album. I can't say I agree. Matter of fact, some more Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, P-Funk, Prince, James Brown records could've replaced the majority of some of the recordings. And "Off the Wall" is more definitive to me than "Thriller" to me.

Why did I bother, the beatles, U2 and Led Zep as overepresented, as usual. Only one album from Stevie, Jimi and Radiohead. Nothing from P-FUNK, Sly (Riot is at least top 5) or James Brown.

nod This is what I noticed as well. There is some definite hateration on Motown Artists: ie Stevie , Marvin Gaye. Also, they have a deep seeded hateration for the Funk by not properly giving props to JB, Sly &Family Stone, P-Funk, and Rick James.

Also, they have a deep seeded hateration for the Funk by not properly giving props to JB, Sly &Family Stone, P-Funk, and Rick James.

yet somehow they manage to squeeze in like five metallica albums? wtf? disbelief

Come on...You CAN'T really believe this, can you? I prefer 'Revolver' myself, but to say that 'Pepper' is HORRIBLE?! Clearly, you have no palette for genius song-craft.
