It's just an opinion, but I do believe however a need to live up to the Knowles' expectations, Beyonce's success from whose shadow she shall probably NEVER emerge, esteem issues due in partial thanks to the image demands of show business...I could see other possibilities. Like maybe not eating very much while working herself half to death with that slavedriving schedule her adopted family, er um, I mean management bestows upon her... But objectively speaking, something about the way the group was marketed always put a bit more shine on the lead singer as being a sort of 'golden girl', while her sisters seemed to pale a bit in her shadow. I'm usuing the ugly duckling phrase as a METAPHOR. Examine what I'm saying purely from a marketing standpoint. I was considering what it must be like to spend every waking moment of your professional life being delegated to being 'backround'...while your 'sister' is ever poised to be the focus of attention for your group.The biggest voice, the biggest hair, the shiniest dress. Observing the way they would handle press activities here in Europe, it always amazed me that every question was always directed to the lead singer, every magazine cover had her face, not theirs. Never a moment for the other girls to get their shine on. Hence my use of the phrase ugly duckling, like we see demonstrated conceputually in fairy tales. For me it has nothing to do with her skin color, and actually I've always thought Kelly was prettier than Beyonce (in so far as my personal tastes go). Calm down, Ma.
