Ask FuNkeNsteiN anything.... about FUNK.

As the title of the thread implies, I'm open to all funk related questions.
What do I think of a certain act, do I own this or that album, what album by this or that band I'd recommend etc etc.
I'll try to answer every question as best I can.

Fire away!
biggrin

James or P-Funk?

Is Prince a funk artist?

Do you prefer Bernie Worrell's horn arrangements or Fred Wesley's?

Damn... I love Slave's first six albums, but uh, I'm on a Cameo binge right now. Listened to Ugly Ego, We All Know Who We Are, Cardiac Arrest and The Gold Collection today.
Guess I'd have to say that, overall, Slave wins by a hair.

If you mean Michael's solo recordings, then Off The Wall... it's got Louis Johnson on bass on a lot of the cuts biggrin

hmmm

Cold Sweat, The Payback and Sex Machine, off the top of my head

Who was he last great Funk artist. I mean when Funk was still recored on a regular bases in the mid-late 1980's?

Who is a artist you wished would have gotten more into funk?

Would you consider "Full Force" Funk Artist?

Which of the "Star's" funked harder, Midnight or Atlantic?

Who was the funkier bass player from forner kid/teen groups. Keni Burke of the Five Stairsteps, Jermine Jackson or Leon Sylvers?

Real funk died somewhere around 1983 or so. The last truly great funk artist was Rick James.

Who is a artist you wished would have gotten more into funk?

Prince

Would you consider "Full Force" Funk Artist?

shrug
Haven't heard any of their stuff, or atleast I don't remember hearin' any. I checked allmusic.com and saw that their debut came out in 1985, so I guess it's safe to assume that they aren't a funk act wink

Which of the "Star's" funked harder, Midnight or Atlantic?

hmmm
Been listening to Midnight Star more than Atlantic Star, as of late, so Midnight Star is my answer.

I dig Jermaine fro

Well, since I wasn't around when all these bands were at their peak, I'm kind of a poor judge. Parliament put on sa helluva live show though, so Imma go with them.
