Guess what's finally being reissued after all these years?

Marvin's Gaye's final Motown album from 1981, In Our Lifetime reissued and remastered on 2-discs from Hip-O Select...

Re-discover In Our Lifetime?, Marvin Gaye’s final Motown album. A masterpiece, it’s now expanded to two discs, and includes the mythical, long lost Love Man sessions,

Funky and inspirational, In Our Lifetime? chronicles a genius at war with himself. It touches on theological and personal issues plaguing Marvin at the time, and produced the hits “Heavy Love Affair” and “Praise.” But the album didn't have the mixes or final tracks he approved, and he left his longtime label for CBS the following year. This 2-CD expanded edition includes a newly remastered version of the original LP, outtakes from those final mixes, plus a previously unknown and unheard alternate mix and lineup of the album.

But that’s only half the story: this album was originally conceived as a party record Marvin called LoveMan. Except for the single, “Ego Tripping Out,” he never finished that concept. Yet those Love Man sessions were recently uncovered — an incredible treasure of demos and alternate instrumentation that’s a beacon for soul and Marvin Gaye fans.

Also included in this limited package is a 28-page booklet with detailed annotations, rare photos, full lyrics, and two essays: one by Gaye biographer David Ritz, who provides a compelling context, and another describing the Love Man sessions.

Get into the full story of the extraordinary In Our Lifetime, a compelling chapter in Marvin’s devastating autobiography.

DID YOU KNOW… Marvin worked on the album at studios in Los Angeles, Honolulu and London. In London’s Odyssey Studios, the Who were completing their album Face Dances in the room next door, and Pete Townshend would regularly check in on Marvin’s progress.

(Now you all know I ordered this one from Amazon.com for $29.99, right? What I want to know is what took so long for this to be reissued for a limited time. All you Marvin Gaye fans jump on this one quickly!)

Motown fucked up what could've been a landmark project.

I'm glad the "Love Man" will be seeing the light after all these years.

Now all they need to do is release a deluxe edition of this out-of-print Stevie Wonder classic that I can't seem to find:

I think it is available via import. Motown doesn't seem to care about the artist until they are gone. I never have understood why all of Stevie's albums haven't been issued with bonus tracks and outtakes. It would also be nice to have the Deluxe Editions of his most popular albums. UGH...MOTOWN.

Mong

Re expanded versions of Stevie's albums, it will never happen. It's written in Stevie's contract that any reels of outtakes will be destroyed when he passes away.

Thats becoz they're in the possession of Stevie Wonder himself,,,oh and it gets worse too; appearently Mr.Stevie asked in his well that all of his vault music would be destroyed when he dies.

So, I wouldn't hold my breath on hearing Stevie's shelved music any time soon.

That is true! There was a rumor that Stevie once said that there are millions of tracks that are still in the vaults and they are yet to be released.

Do the Motown singles come in original mono format? The mono versions sound way better at a party. Try "Heat Wave" for example. Play the stereo version then play the mono version. The drums are slammin on the mono one!

They come in the version they were originally released in. "Heat Wave" was released in 63 so I'm pretty sure it's a mono version.

Some tracks come in both mono and stereo versions. lol

Now all they need to do is release a deluxe edition of this out-of-print Stevie Wonder classic that I can't seem to find:

The CD is pretty hard to find. You could download the album from iTunes as a temporary alternative.

I didn't even know that. How much do they charge? I'll have to make a copy of it on CD and put it on my Ipod.

It's only $5.99 for the whole album. Here's a link if you already have iTunes installed: http://phobos.apple.com/W...4&s=143441

Thank you so much, AlexeParis! I'm about to put my credit card info in and download this one. Skip buying a $60 used import...

I think Marvin should have went ahead and released that album! lol I bet it would have done really well in 1979,at the height of the disco era. After the 'Here,My Dear' project (which was filled with bitterness and drama),he needed to come back with a strong, funky, danceable album.'Love Man' seems like it was created with that goal in mind.
