Grupo Fantasma... Hey...anyone here ever heard of them. Well, i have been into them since about 2 years ago and had recently heard that Prince had them perform @ 3121 Las Vegas a few times. Anyway, they kick-ass!! and I just saw them at a music festival in Black Mountain, NC. I gagged when they opened with Musicology!! it was really cute....later in the set they dropped some James Brown. I love how Prince totally influenced them....great to see this band post Prince and see how they are even tighter now than B4...yo if anyone here is into Latin music...check them out! Im all about Grupo Fantasma!! They're originally from South Texas, two of the members being from my city of Laredo. They play alot of shows here in Laredo, and they're a blast! If u love latin music, you'll love Grupo Fantasma.
I was pleasantly surprised when I found out they were playing with Prince. In fact, they were supposed to play with him as his backup band in the Super Bowl show, so I heard. They actually rehearsed and made it to Miami, but at the last minute, Prince opted to use his own band  . What a fucker Prince is.
But what I hear through my local grapevine is that they're quite fond of Prince, and he's quite fond of them as well. I believe they were his backing band at the Golden Globes afterparty. Not a bad thing about Prince has gone through my ear at all, even with the whole SB stunt he pulled. | |

Grupo Fantasma went to Miami to play a private party with Prince and open one of his concerts, not to play at the Superbowl. The videos on You Tube are from that party. I think they've already been taken down though. | |
