Justin Tmberlake: One Cocky Bastard?

Do you think Justin Timberlake is growing too big for his breaches?

Case in point:

I hear Justin just recently did a cover story for Details magazine where he supposedly discussed his relationship with Cameron Diaz. Now you can call Cameraon crazy all you like, but when asked to repond Cameron took the high road, stating that this whole thing was like some reality tv BS and that she was not going to entertain the matter any further.

Looks like Just likes to kiss and tell, like he did with Britney on Howard Stern after they broke up, divulging bedroom secrets better left between the two.

Point two:

The "Give It To Me" single by Timbaland. Tim's guilty in this department too. Looks like Nelly Furtado was the only one to display any class in this trio. Justin supposedly disses both Prince and Janet Jackson during his verse. Now maybe Prince was wrong when he declared innocently that sexy never left, but did it require a response like the one Justin dished out. The Janet swipes are playground fodder. Tim's very personal fued with Scott Storch is almost as bad, but not quite, as Christina's "F.U.S.S." off her latest opus.

Justin might be entertaining and hell even talented. He can hold a note despite his voice and he can move. But it still doesn't take away from the fact that he's a slave to his producers and that as soon as there's any slight modifications in his looks his career is over.

Is the cockiness JUSTified?

No Cockiness gets you nowhere in the long run. Once people start to dislike they will not change their mind. Jay Leno once said that if people like u, they like u, but if they hate u then they always will. Cockiness is what caused Terence Trent D'arby to crash into the wall, sure hes got talent, but he alienated everyone with comments made back in 1987. Oasis, i mean this band really got tossed out of America because of their attitude. Kanye West is laying low because it really has gotten negative for him. Its one thing to have EGO, all performers have that, but to be cocky about it will not get you any points. I saw that Timbaland video and VERY TRUE Nelly showed class while the others it was a "BEEF" video, smirking in the camera, stupid face expressions, reminded me alot of Vanilla Ice and we know where his cockiness got him.

"We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

In all fairness, Justin knew Prince was just joking for telling the media that "sexy never let". Also, Justin is still using former Prince band members for his own tour.

Oh that I did not know. I do know that a local critic went apesh!t for this band when they played. Kudos to him. He reported the show was excellent.

this whole thing about him dissing Prince and/or Janet is such baloney. yeah, he's really been a prick lately, but let's base that opinion on the things he's actually said instead of making stuff up.

Yeah I realize my post is made up od so many "supposedly's" it's almost comical. But the Details article is in print and the Howard Stern quotes were on the air.

The Details article is full of unsubstansiated ego and cockiness. Apparently upset that he didn"t win all the Grammys he was nominated for, JT said something like, "They (the Grammys) used me for ratings. And look at them, the ratings were up 18 percent". It's not an exact quote, but it's something like that.

And I lost a lot of respect for TJ a while back after he pretty much threw Janet under the bus.

I may be in the minority here, but I still don't think the Timaland song lyric is directed at Prince. JT is obviously influenced by Prince and was even at Prince's recent party after the "sexy never left" comment was made. I don't think there's any real beef between them.

Scott Storch comfirm that Timbaland was dissing him (NOT Prince) in that song when he was call out as "piano man". And Scott released a diss track & video of his own accusing Timbo for steading tracks.

Let's see. A talented dude in his 20's talking shit with the talent to back it up. Sounds like someone with the last name Nelson, if you ask me. He gets a lot of crap for getting his start in a boy band but so did MJ, mmmkay?

Justin most certainly DOES NOT have the talent to back anything up. In no way is this guy exceptional or special. He has the least charisma and stage presence of any big pop star ever.

I agree and think he is tied with Usher for all the stuff you mentioned above.

That being what? They played instruments? Show me a live clip of MJ bangin' out on a piano (or any instrument) during a live performance ever besides in a Eddie Vedder distracted guitar strumming kind of way... And, second, hit me with a link to all the Marlon Jackson fan-sites if you got a minute/second. MJ was the front man in a band- regardless if they were his brothers. JT is just the break-out star in anutha' band, even if he was the only one who could play anything.

maybe I'm just being silly but it's fun to argue

Completely different eras. You really can't compare a Motown act with 90s exploitation boy bands seriously, can you? Basides, The Jackson 5 was a children's band who made primarly children's music as well, tthen they grew up but kept performing together. They all became songwriters and had definitive roles in the group as The Jacksons. Michael was the singer, it's not the singers job to play instruments onstage.

The thing with 90s boy bands was that the performers all knew they were going to be embarrassing to the wider auidence and that they would be primarily used for selling records to preteen/teen girls. The members of those groups very well knew they were just exploited and a part of a marketing scheme - it's hard to imagine being in a boy band would have been any of these gyus' real aspiration as musicians. Bands like the Jacksons, while not being necessarily avant-garde, were in the business because they wanted to do it that way.

I've seen him play guitar a couple times, but he looks awkward holding the guitar. Doesn't seem to play it naturally.

Still, Michael is a better performer, singer and musician than JT, regardless of whether or not he plays an instrument. JT is just a producer's puppet, copping his moves & grooves off of other (more talented) musicians. JT's stuff is beyond derivitive.

MJ may not be as dynamic as he once was, but I'll take his crappiest album over JT's best, anyday.

what's that got to do with anything.? Your putting too much emphasis on playing instruments, MJ was never about that, especially on stage. He was the lead singer at the age of 11 of a group who happen to consist of his brothers, with a very distinctive voice and a unique act. Two of his brothers played guitar and bass. They grew and went onto do their own thing and then MJ finally went solo doing his own thing and influencing a generation of younger artists.

I don't think you can compare where MJ was coming from with JT coming from the typically, contrieved boy groups of the 90s and who has obvioulsy been deeply influence by peeps like MJ and prince to such an extent it scary. I can't talk of JT talent unless I see him doing his own thing instead cloning others.
