for some reason it feels like the late 80's

when it comes to music from this year. Anyone else getting those vibes? I just heard kelly rowland, rihanna and maroon 5's new joints and got a late 80's vibe from them. Even gwen's stuff gives me that feeling and some of beyonce's songs

Don't forget Fergie's Glamourous that's dominating the airwaves right now -- totally 80s.

yeah, it reminds me of sheila e.

all the freestyle drum n bass like music is totally 80's but it's such a shame that even people that were alive then don't realize it, like people in their early to mid 20's like me

I even heard a song that ripped off the raspberry beret beat, I think it was p diddy, pharell and TI

OMG you aren't the only one who feels this how the last year or so feel like the late 80s just like for some reason 2004 was like 1984 where a lot happened and 2005 was like 1985 where everything quiet down a bit.

well, that's where we are in the time loop...pretty much all culture repeats on a 20 year cycle.

Well, if this is true... then Prince should be gettin' ready to explode all over again! wink

its called marketing trends

the people spending the money are the ones who grew up during the 80's

Unfortunately, the knew artists today will not repeat the unique success of the original 80's artists. We will always compare them to:

Prince
Madonna
Michael Jackson
Simply Red
Wham
Bon Jovi
The Cure
Metallica
Twisted Sister
Cinderella
Poison
Run DMC
DeBarge
and Whitney Houston

Let's not talk about the clothes. Madonna has just brought them back with her H&M line. She of all people should know tight fitting silk and satin don't mix well with sweat, which is why leather and lace became all the rage in the 80s.

I didn't think of that but you're right. Many of us kids in the 80's wanted to wear certain clothes so it would make sense to bring it back 20 years later when we can spend. And I guess I was doing that too for the last few years too
