But there was at least two albums worth of time in between them

Now that was completely unnecessary. There's Joy In Repetition.

OK, I couldn't think of another four-piece until now:

Al Green

Let's Stay Together (1972) | I'm Still in Love with You (1973) | Call Me (1973) | Livin' for You (1974)

Though in reality Green broke off a seven-piece when you include:

Al Green Gets Next to You (1971)

Al Green Explores Your Mind (1974)

Al Green Is Love (1975)

[Edited 4/7/07 23:14pm]
THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS!

The Fall - Extricate/Shift Work/Code Selfish/The Infotainment Scan

This may be an absurd comment considering we're discussing the Fall to begin with, but I'd call that a left field choice, sir. Not that I have any objections - I love Extricate and Infotainment Scan myself, and though I'm only luke-warm on the other two, they're fine albums in their own way.

I went with the more conventional Grotesque-Perverted... era.

Can - Tago Mago/Ege Bayamasi/Future Days/Soon Over Babaluma

Yup, that particular bunch made it on to my listing as well. Immortal records as far as these things go, each and every one of them.

John Cale - Fear/Slowdazzle/Helen of Troy/Sabotage

Now I might have to take issue with this, because, even though I like Fear and Slow Dazzle, I don't think I'd rate either of them as great albums. Paris 1919 is a great album, an orch-pop masterpiece I believe, but Fear and Slowdazzle seem more like very good but rather standard '70s hard rock albums with a weirder-than-most vocalist. I've never heard Helen of Troy, shamefully enough...
