70s Flashback Prog-Fusion Album of the Day David Sancious...
...Transformation (The Speed of Love) Piktor's Metamorphosis... The intro will fool you. Almost hymn-like. No indication of the melodic onslaught to come. Sky Church Hymn, No.9... His tribute to Jimi Hendrix. Not only does he kill on keyboards... ...he also a very good guitarist The Play and Display of the Heart... Imagine a duet between maybe Chick Corea and John McLaughlin. A beautiful piece with Sancious on acoustic piano accompanying himself on acoustic guitar. Transformation (The Speed of Love)... An epic 18 minute tone poem. Symphonic in form. All these tunes show not only skillful playing but composition skills as well. Each is based on a melody (or melodies) showcasing his fluency in Classical/Rock/Jazz/Blues styles =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= If funny how so few people know about this guy even though, starting as a teenager,... ...he played keyboards on Bruce Springsteen's first 3 albums and was a member of the original E Street Band. Other solo releases: As far as I know... ...these two are the most recent. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Some of the artits he's recorded and/or toured with... Stanley Clarke Billy Cobham Narada Michael Walden Aretha Franklin Patti Austin Zucchero Peter Gabriel Sting Youssou N'Dour Living Colour Seal Bryan Ferry Stacy Lattisaw Santana Natalie Merchant Robbie Dupree Eric Clapton Jon Anderson Larry Graham Hall & Oates Billy Squire Michael Franks Artie Traum ...another individual that deserves the title of a "musician's musician" as Peter Gabriel referred to him. www.davidsancious.com tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 [Edited 3/19/07 12:18pm] "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. Check the artists he's played with. You've heard him and just didn't know who it was. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

David's an incredible musician!
I got hip to him on Sting's "Ten Summoner's Tales" record, but then saw him on SNL with Jack Bruce. Dude, played an unbelievable keyboard solo, then picked up a guitar and tore the shit up like you wouldn't believe! At that point in time, i didn't even know he PLAYED guitar! DS is SCARY talented!

Kool!
I first heard Sancious on the first Narada Michael Walden album, "Garden Of Love Light"(1976), and was knocked out by his keyboard playing (especially the track, "The Sun Is Dancing", on which David practically gives a seminar on organ and synths!)...years later, I picked up some of his solo albums, and it floored me when I heard him on guitar! Truly an underrated talent!!!! ... [Edited 3/20/07 11:47am] " I've got six things on my mind --you're no longer one of them." - Paddy McAloon, Prefab Sprout

Speaking of Narada Michael Walden, you should repost the piece you did on him. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. Some notes: Davey only played on the title track of Born to Run. He and Boom Carter departed to form Tone before the rest of the album was cut. Sancious first reunited with Bruce on the 1988 Amnesty International "Human Rights Now!" Tour. He was part of Sting's group and sat in with the E Street Band on that jaunt, here and there. He also played on a few tracks on Springsteen's first release after the tour (Human Touch), contributing a wicked solo to "Soul Driver".
