I must admit it's one of my guilty pleasures. At the time it was sooooo uncool to like ELO.

Jeff Lynne is a very talented and innovative composer/producer. I highly recommend you purchase Eldorado, his crowning achievement.

Love the song . . . it got new life in the 2004 movie Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind. It was also in a few TV commercials.

A lot of their stuff is heavily influence by The Beatles, albeit in a late 70s fashion. Not suprisingly, Jeff Lynne and George Harrison were very close friends (Jeff Lynne producing a lot of George's stuff, and both of them were Travelling Wilburys).

One of my all time fav.
I loved this one as a child and I have great memories about that song.

Influenced by The Beatles indeed, some part reminds me of
A day in the life.
Other great ELO songs:Don't bring me down,Twillight,Yours truly 2095,...

Im just discovering this one too. Awesome track! In fact, Ive had the greatest hits for a while and only listened to the songs I was familiar with( turn to stone, evil woman, livin thing). So this song(along w/ strange magic and telephone line) came as a very pleasant suprise. It def. got me interested in exploring the elo catalogue a bit more.
A happy face, A Thumpin Bass, For A Lovin' Race. PEACE.

Quite possibly the most over-produced non-Todd-Rundgren track in the history of the universe. It's absolutely fantastic! thumbs up!

Probably the best ever "If the Beatles had stayed together in the 70's" fantasy track.

The lyric captures precisely how the British people feel on a sunny day, and our strange love/hate attitude to the weather

And the classical part at the end - the Celestial Power of Nature...
