"EMPTY" - most slept on Janet track EVER! This one (from Velvet Rope, I believe) came across my Pod a few weeks ago & I'd totally forgotten how much this track makes me wanna MOVE I love the way it builds, just can't stay still when this is on
I think I dismiss Janet so easily b/c I sometimes marvel @ how someone w/ such a weak voice could make it so big I mean really, who's luckier to be a "Jackson" than Janet??? But I forget she's got some gems I really like. Empty is in the company of I Get Lonely, Love Will Never Do, Anytime Anyplace, etc.

This is probably my second favorite track from TVR. I used to run this song. I love how it starts out and then the beat drops in. I also think it’s just as sexy if not sexier than some of her more explicit songs. It's rarely talked about. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

One of my favourite janet tracks from one of my favourite janet albums. I really love the melody of this song, and as mentioned the way it builds. I rediscovered Janet recently, having been put off since All 4U, and this was one of the tracks I gleefully transferred onto my Ipod - great to rediscover it again. It was one of my favs when the album was released, and it still is in hindsight.
Its also a brilliant example for Janet to look at herself to see what she's capable of when she trys NEW things.

I don't think it was slept just that there were so many good songs released from TVR(I Get So Lonely notwithstanding) that it was passed over. Judging from the responses you received to this thread it has been appreciated. What I really loved from the album was Got Til It's Gone. "Why you wanna go and do that love huh?" LOVE this track, wish J would've gone further in this kind of direction with her sound.

Hell no, her fans were raving about this track ever since the album was released. Personally I don't like it.

Awesome song. For me, it's like an updated reinterpretation of Dream Street's Communication.

I sleep on all of her tracks. I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

slept on? i don't think so. seemed when TVR came out, it was one of the most loved tracks across fandom and beyond. "I don't need your forgiveness, cos I've been saved by Jesus, so fuck you."

I find that people today like the velvet rope album more than they did 10 years ago. Other than together again and i get lonely, teenagers weren't really paying attention to the velvet rope album, which is such a shame. I think it's one of those albums that now gets recognition along with her 3 albums before it. Even people who bash her recent albums bring up how awesome velvet rope was, that tells you something about longeivity

I think that her follow up albums forced everyone to appreciate TVR even more.

ironically, it's those 2 tracks i dislike most now. and did at the time, now that i think of it. too bad about the videos for that album. "I don't need your forgiveness, cos I've been saved by Jesus, so fuck you."
