Sounds very promising; I haven't heard NIN since the Fragile which I found too much for me at the time.

that sounds pretty fabulous. i might enjoy the marketing more than the actual album!

I tried sifting through some of these sites, and it was about as fun as reading through an instruction book for a role playing game. Stick to music Trent, not "viral marketing" (which is so three years ago BTW) gimmicks.

Billy Corgan got up to his neck in esoteric fluff with the Machina I & II crap as well, and it really killed the album. I have to try and tune it out and remind myself there's some decent songs buried away beneath all that.

my idea of a successful version of the term "viral marketing" was beck's "guero" album, whether it was intentional or not...

1. the album leaks months before the release date. the versions are all fairly threadbare demos.

2. the album is released, with a special edition w/ DVD and remixes and a neeto booklet. even if you have the leaked version, you don't have the final version and you don't have all the goodies. but you know what the music sounds like, so if ya liked the leak, you'll want this.

3. 'guerolito' is released, which is the entire 'guero' album remixed.

in the end, fans got THREE versions of the album - one version for free! and the leak whetted folks' appetites for the stuff they'd spend extra bucks on later for special edition goodies.

i don't know if any of this was intentional, but i fell for it. and i liked it!

They've done marketing campaigns mainly for Microsoft - they did campaigns for Halo 2 (www.ilovebees.com), Xbox360, Vanishing Point (just finished) and they've done others.

They're called 42Entertainment - their website probably shows everything.

I just listened to "My Violent Heart"...now that's a song that say:

"WTF!"

I haven't found a song that surprised me as this one did. This is shaping up to be a great album
