Beyonce in a bikini on cover of this year's Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue

at 1:02 on February 14, 2007, EST.

This handout photo provided by Sports Illustrated shows Beyonce on the cover of the 2007 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue shot in Key Biscayne, Fla. (AP Photo/Sports Illustrated, Cliff Watts)

NEW YORK (AP) - Another high note for Beyonce - the coveted cover shot of this year's Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.

The singer and now movie star ("Dreamgirls") posed on a Florida beach in a yellow-and-pink bikini by House of Dereon, the fashion label she started with her mother, Tina Knowles. There's also a photo spread inside. "The Dreamgirl As You've Never Seen Her," a cover headline teases.

The 2007 swimsuit edition continues with a music them inside, featuring scantily-clad models posing with Kanye West, Aerosmith, Kenny Chesney, Gnarls Barkley and Panic! At the Disco for the camera of lensman Steve Erle.

Jay Leno announced this tonight;she'll be on his show tomorrow to talk about it. I think Tyra Banks was the first Black woman on the cover, but I'm not sure who followed. Naomi?

That's one of the best cover I've seen of Beyonce. Cute.

Its a nice cover. Seems appropriate to have her on the cover of a music themed issue.

I guess she had to a newsworthy cover now that JHud got Vogue. But I'd be pissed if I was a subsriber and found that she even infiltrated my world of sports. What next? The music issue of Field & Stream?

She's a pretty girl, but totally over exposed. I'm getting tired of seeing her.

I thought she wanted to be taken serious and didn't want people to focus on her looks.

I guess since Matthew couldn't get his daughter on Vogue, he had to settle for SI.

C'mon, everybody understands that. But if you put her on the cover with shoulder length hair, as lovely as she is, it wouldn't change a thing in my mind.

Wow, I just peeped photos of her MTV Awards performance in comparison to Britney’s concert…I heard it was similar but damn. It seems like all these young artists just copy.

Maybe it's the stylists or production team's fault but I'd tell my people I want something original and if you can't come up with something other than what the last chic did then pack your bags.

Beyonce's mega-straight weaves are a major part of her allure. She wouldn't get nearly as much attention if she wore her hair short or in it's natural, unrelaxed state.

If that gal had an Anita Baker haircut my nose would still be wide open.

My point is that she wouldn't be the Beyonce that we know and would not have the type of success that has if she wore her hair in an Anita Baker cut. We most likely would not be discussing her being on the cover of AI if she was known for wearing her hair short or in it's natural kinky state. Beyonce is her hair...I mean weave.

I can accept what you're saying to the extent that the length of her hair and fairness of her skin attributes to her success. That's the reality of our society.

But the reality of namepeace says that if I saw Bey walking towards me with an Anita Baker, Zhane, Chaka Khan or Badu style, I'd holla.

Those are some hot pictures, but I am getting pretty tired of her, and I don't like her music. She's got a nice face, and an almost cartoonish, curvy figure. It doesn't matter what her music sounds like, with a body like that. She'd be popular even if she was tone deaf.
