This may have been addressed before but was MJ son Prince 1 born before Fascination was produced?I think this song is an announcement of sorts...These two artists have never expressed a like or dislike publicly. I have to assume Prince found it ironic that MJ would go there considering there invisible rivalry...When he did it twice it just seemed very weird, an honor, or a veiled insult... Any thoughts on this???

I thought I was an MJ stan until I read this, I don't even know what event you are referring to.

Hmmm...if i remember correctly, Michael said that his grandfather's name was Prince. Or was it his grand-grandfather ..Anyway, I think this name runs in the family.

Prince Jackson is not named after Prince, he is named after his grand parents

Both of Michaels boys are named Prince.
None are named Michael but they all have his name as a middle name.

When I heard that MJ was naming his first son Prince I was like "OH HELL NO". It was during the years, and I thought MJ took the name because it was available . . . and I also foresaw that child's eventual music career as "Prince". Made me ill.

I feel better now that PRINCE has taken "Prince" back and trademarked the performing name. There can be a Fresh Prince or Prince Be or even someday a Prince Jackson, but only one PRINCE.

Michael Jackson's first son Prince is named after Michael's grandfather (from his mother Katerine's side) who was called Prince Scruse.

Well, I for one never did buy that whole "Granddaddy Prince" excuse. Why MJ really named those boys Prince I and Prince II only he knows but it's not about what he wants everyone to believe, that much I do know. MJ is not as innocent and sweet as people have convinced themselves he is.

and I dont buy the whole MJ being obsessed with Prince and naming his 2 children after him

Michael has never revealed the real name of his second son. He refers to him as "Blanket" as in "blanket him with love". I think the media took it upon themselves to give "Blanket" the name Prince Michael II. Michael has never confirmed or denied the name.

As far as I know, Prince is supposed to be called after MJ´s grandfather. However I saw MJ divorce papers with Debbie and there it said children: Michael Joseph Jackson Jr.
I don´t think it has anything to do with Prince - the singer. As Embattled warior said it would have to be more of him being the KOP and having a son Prince than calling him after Prince- the singer, who knows.
But I don´t know what "Bankets" real name is, but I wouldn´t trust Mike with that. I believe he does this to mislead the public - to protect them. I mean Mike would rather have the public think he´s weird that to have them know the truth as far as his personal life is concerned. I mean he was married to Lisa Marie for several weeks before anyone (even their parents) knew. Even Janet was married for years that way. I guess this way of keeping things secret runs in the family, so I wouldn´t believe that Prince and Blanket are the real kids names. As for Paris though it seems to be true. It is the only name that seems to have been confirmed through documents etc.

There is a line in "Fascination" referring to Michael's kid, but I'm kinda with dag on this one. He had family and personal reasons for giving his son the nickname "Prince". It affirms his status as the king of pop, to him, anyway.
