"666" by Aphrodite's Child...their one and only masterpiece (their other albums sucked...they sounded like late era-Pink Floyd ) ...blessed by Salvador Dali himself...I had one copy, cracked, on vinyl, that still played and lasted until the mid-90s when it was finally released on CD. I'll send you a copy! whoa! awesome...that sounds kinda hardcore. IT IS... You just can't find good Greek prog rock these days.

Pink Floyd isn't even really complex, just long. I think they wrote some great pop tunes. The expanded on a side of the Beatles--I Want You, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Because--could have been Pink Floyd tunes
Yes, too many college stoners have made Wish You Were Here & Comfortably Numb into cliches, but those are great songs. My Legacy

Big, big fan of Can here, that album in particular, and I love that Silver Apples record as well. I've almost picked up that Aphrodite's Child album a few times. They've had a few copies sitting in the prog section of my local indie shop for a while. I think you've just prodded me into taking the plunge on it.

Can is amazing, although I've never had the pleasure of getting fucked up to them. I miss being young.

Can is amazing, although I've never had the pleasure of getting fucked up to them. I miss being young. I know the feeling...though I never listened to them in an ...errr... altered state either. Whenever I needed a soundtrack to my psychedelic excursions, I usually put Throbbing Gristle's Heathen Earth on repeat for the evening.

Can are just incredible though...I'd even recommend them to people who claim to have zero tolerance for proggish noodling about (attn Moonbeam). I mean, is Aumgn the greatest psychedelic freak-out ever captured on tape or what?

I guess I don't think of Can as prog though, and that might help Mooners appreciate them. I think of them as more avant garde art junk funk. How can anyone not love that?

I think of them as prog, but at the least they and the other somewhat like-minded bands of their era comprise a highly distinct subset that didn't have a lot to do with Emerson Lake and Palmer.
