At least when Keith Sweat begs, it only for sex. Air Supply begs to be seen like a bunch of whining, sickening, attention whores!!! I can't stand them.

No I don't think they are worse than Houston. I EXPECT these guys to be rhythmless.
And also they were never big enough to single-handedly kill funk.

And also they were never big enough to single-handedly kill funk. Expected? Good point. But they done their part in punishing people after disco was "kill off" in America. This kind of adult contemporary music was popular in pop music of 80-82.

This kind of adult contemporary music was popular in pop music of 80-82. Yeah, it was brutal. I also hate songs like Styx's "Babe". Now instead of those songs we have groups like Hinder and Nickelback. That's the modern equivalent. And in the 60's it was Bobby Vinton and Brenda Lee. [Edited 1/11/07 17:15pm]

I have don't have a problem with Shitney because her music is horrible. There are far worse artists out there. My problem with her is because she was such a huge success on R&B radio (which she never should have been played on in the first place) and she influenced tons of R&B artists that followed her to make the same boring ass type of music. With everyone making boring bullshit, less and less people were making funk.
Air Supply was on pop and adult contemporary stations. They were never played on R&B radio so there was no way for them to influence anyone on the R&B scene. Andy is a four letter word.

They weren't even played on the same stations that funk was. Shitney was though. Andy is a four letter word.

This kind of adult contemporary music was popular in pop music of 80-82. I associate Air Supply with pop/rock the same way I associate Lionel Richie with R&B. Air Supply was big with weak shit but there was still plenty of strong stuff like Pat Benatar, Devo, Van Halen, Human League, etc. Lionel Richie was big with weak shit but there still was plenty of strong stuff like Con-Funk-Shun, The Barkays, Cameo, Prince, Rick James, Roger and Zapp, Midnight Star, etc. However, after Shitney came folks like Anita Baker, Freddie Jackson, Regina Belle, Mikki Howard, etc. In other words, boring asses. Not to mention a whole new generation of boring asses in the 1990s such as Brandy who worships her. . . [Edited 1/12/07 14:24pm] Andy is a four letter word.

I’m not an aggressive or angry person in the least, but after being subjected to Air Supply’s greatest hits for about 2 hours (the vinyl got flipped at least five times) at a dinner party and having to watch the host close her eyes and sing along with ‘Just As I Am’ like it was fucking Robert Johnson or something, I screamed “I can’t take any more of this shit!” and ripped the record off the turntable and threw it out of my host’s fifth floor apartment window into the dumpster.
True story, scout’s honour. That’s the kind of thing Air Supply can do to a (I like to think) sane person. I bought her another copy.
