This article is really funny. When music is all you have, you'd better live it up. Announcing your snobitude can be done with subtle phrases like (start writing these down), "Have you heard the new Preston School Of Industry record?" "Popul Vuh sounded way better live" or "James Brown? Give me a break! The real soul man was Solomon Burke." If you're not into subtleties then simply announce how many records you own (it must exceed at least 500, but heads won't turn until you surpass 1000, and you must mention all rare, out-of-print ones) or wear a band shirt, which brings us to rule #2: looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

http://uncyclopedia.org/w..._a_hipster I love all kinds of music, but i'm somewhat of a musical snob when it comes to Country and Rap. I really just can't stand hardly any of it.... but that's just personal taste, not because I don't respect it, or I think it sucks. The cool thing about this forum is that folks are very open-minded and don't bash others for their musical tastes for the most part. I can never figure out how some folks feel like their musical tastes gives them some superiority over others, as if they are right and others are wrong. ya know? Anyways... lots of rock snobs out there. Show 'em this article when they get too obnoxious!! ur kidding me... this forum is like a breeding ground for music snobs... I am a Rail Road, Track Abandoned

There are many different types of hipsters from what I've observed.
For example, you have the music heads who are into only the "real" music from anything before, say, 1982, who collect vinyl and are fans mainstream as well as obscure bands from back in the day. They listen to anything from rock, soul, funk, folk, skiffle, jazz, pop, country, etc. as long as it's "good" music, has staying power, is "classic", and involves talented and seasoned musicians. THEN, you have the young kids who are what I call "indie kids" who really only listen to new bands from Britain mostly, and aren't really aware of who these bands are emulating the first place. It's all about whatever's new out there, nevermind that a lot of the music all sounds the same. They also say they like bands like Thin Lizzy and people like Tim Buckley even though they've probably don't own any albums by them. It's just cool to say so though. Music Snobs dress the part ♫ This doesn't necessarily mean wearing a band shirt, but if you do it has to be an obscure band. Those Offspring, Tool, and Metallica shirts you can easily find at any Virgin Megastore do not count; in fact they only hurt your snob status. Your ultra-rare John Cale shirt will either have to be found by fluke at a thrift store or made by you via an iron-on label. You don't have to wear a band shirt though because there is an alternative: dress like your favourite artist. The most popular and time-tested looks are the Elvis Costello (tight clothes, thick-rimmed glasses, receding hairline), the Neil Young (ragged/dirty clothes, rats nest hair, whiny voice), or the Ani Difranco (beads, beads, beads). So now you can walk the music geek walk but can you talk the music geek talk? Let's examine rule #3: looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

Elvis, Lennon, Roy, Elvis, Freddie and Fogerty are some of the singer names. Dylan, Prince, Elvis, Glimmer Twins and Beck are some of your great songwriters.
