I just heard it on the news (I'm not making this up, people) - Michael Jackson is back in the US and wants to take up residence along the Las Vegas strip.

WTF?!?!?!

But on the bright side, I guess MJ is finally acquiescing that P really is the more original artist between the two of them.

MJ and Las Vegas:

So the rumor around the MJ sites and now the prince.org is that Michael is getting ready to set up shop in Las Vegas. While it sounds like a dream come true for a lot of us USA MJ fans, it isn't set in stone just yet. (Or doesn't seem to be.) I didn't think I had a monster post in me, but I was wrong. Here we go, hang on for the ride:

Ending 18 months of seclusion in Europe, reclusive superstar Michael Jackson was on a plane to the United States late Saturday bound for Las Vegas, where he plans a comeback.

Jackson and his three children, Prince Michael, Paris and Prince Michael II were due to arrive before midnight at a private executive terminal at McCarran International Airport, sources said.

We hear that Jackson's friend, Las Vegas dealmaker Jack Wishna, was instrumental in having the pop icon move back to the United States.

Reminiscent of Howard Hughes' secretive arrival in Las Vegas on Thanksgiving Day in 1966, Jackson's surprise move came after his father, Joe Jackson, vowed his son would not live in the United States again.

The 48-year-old deposed King of Pop has lived in Bahrain and a Celtic castle in Ireland since being acquitted in California of child molestation charges in June 2005.

Wishna, reached by telephone, wouldn't comment, other than to confirm Jackson was moving to Las Vegas and to say, "We are working on several projects."

Jackson has had more than a dozen No. 1 hits on the U.S. charts, the last in 1995. He has not toured since the mid-1990s.

Wishna wouldn't say where Jackson might land on the Strip. Wishna made headlines during Jackson's trial when he courted the entertainer, saying a Jackson comeback would earn a Celine Dion-like contract in Las Vegas.

Calling Jackson "one of the greatest entertainers in the world," Wishna said the singer "is poised to return to the top of the entertainment world soon."

It's the latest coup for Wishna. Two years ago, he brokered a deal that put Donald Trump's $2.8 billion Trump International Hotel & Tower on Phil Ruffin's New Frontier site.

After arriving in Las Vegas in 1999, Wishna put together a deal potentially worth $250 million for Wayne Newton at the Stardust. Wishna has dealt with Michael Flatley, Britney Spears, Richard Branson and Mohamed al-Fayed on Las Vegas deals.

Reclusive superstar Michael Jackson arrived in Las Vegas late Saturday to begin a comeback in a city famous for reviving careers. Jackson and his three children arrived by private plane about 10:30 p.m. Saturday after a flight from Dublin, Ireland.

December 25, 2006 -- Michael Jackson has ended his self-imposed U.S. exile - landing in Las Vegas over the weekend with hopes of revitalizing his dormant music career, sources told The Post.

Jackson sparked a mini-riot yesterday when he went shopping at the posh stores of Caesars Palace.

Hundreds of tourists crowded Jackson - who was wearing dark pants, a white shirt and a black leather jacket - and three hotel security guards.

He spent only 15 minutes window shopping at a Sony store, before ducking out a back door.

"He's amazing. His moves, his music. He's unique. He's a legend," gushed Los Angeles resident Natalie Natalynorohian, 28.

Another 28-year-old tourist from L.A., Cathy Bamshad, said she's admired Jackson since she was a little girl.

"When I was a child, I had Michael Jackson posters, Michael Jackson sweaters, everything was about MJ," she said.

Jackson, 48, hasn't been seen in the United States since he moon-walked out of a California courthouse in June 2005 after being acquitted of kiddie-sex charges.

"Yes, he's here, and yes, we're working on projects. But we're not willing to disclose anything," said Sin City businessman and Jackson pal Jack Wishna.

Almost immediately after the verdict, Jackson and his kids - sons Prince Michael I, 9, and Prince Michael II, 4, and daughter Paris, 8 - headed overseas.

They had been living as guests of rich pals in Bahrain, Ireland and other countries.

Jackson and his children touched down in Las Vegas on Saturday night, Wishna said.

The Gloved One's publicist declined to discuss the singer's whereabouts and denied Jackson has ties to Wishna.

"They don't know each other, and they're not friends," said spokeswoman Raymone Bain.

The singer has several personal links to Las Vegas. One of his sisters, Maureen "Rebbie" Jackson, has been a longtime Vegas resident, while father Joe Jackson owns property and lives there most of the year.

Veteran Vegas show producer Jeff Beacher said Sin City is Jackson's best shot at jump-starting a dead career.

"Vegas is about wild and weird and crazy. If Michael Jackson is going to come back, this could be the place to do it," Beacher said.

While Wishna declined to detail any projects Jackson has in mind, sources said the fallen star is looking to score a long-term hotel showroom deal à la Celine Dion and Elton John.

Jackson has no known offers on the table and is in Vegas with hat in hand, looking to generate any buzz he can, insiders said.

Even though Jackson hasn't had a hit in decades, Wishna said his pal would still draw fans.

"I believe America likes a comeback story," said Wishna.

But Jackson's dad says here today that he hasn't heard from him.

Joe Jackson isn't denying that Jackson and his three children arrived at McCarran International Airport late Saturday from Dublin, Ireland.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that Jackson and a security entourage went on a Christmas shopping spree Sunday at The Forum Shops at Caesars on the Las Vegas Strip.

A Jackson spokeswoman in Washington, D.C., isn't immediately commenting.

Michael Jackson landed in Las Vegas this past weekend and set up shop in this new house, which he (presumably) bought with someone else's money.

The cash-strapped entertainer is planning a "comeback" in Las Vegas and hopes to launch a show on the strip.

On Saturday, the pop star and entourage went shopping at the Forum Shops at Caesar's Palace, sources tell PerezHilton.com.

"It was a freak show," says a spywitness. "There must have been 400 people deep around Michael, falling over themselves."

Jackson's new home does not have a zoo or an amusement park, but it is in a gated community with lots of security.

The fabulous freaks of Sin City have warmed to Wacko's arrival.

"Vegas welcomes Michael with open arms, he's a genius, and not to mention wild and nuts which fits into Vegas perfectly! " says Jeff Beacher from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino , who was recently named by Rolling Stone Magazine "Best showman on the strip! "

"The city is getting hotter and crazier by the second and it was just a matter of time before someone like Michael moved out here and had a show," says Beacher.

But....

The real questions remain!

Possible Problems with this article: There have been some whispers that the above article, and it's site is just using Michael's names to get hits which means the adverts are viewed more. (And that could mean they get more money..)
Time will only tell on this.

One thing is for sure:
This coming week Michael's spokeswoman Raymone Bain is going to be busy.

-She will need to clear up the Vegas stuff, cus the press will pick this up BIG TIME.
-She will need to confirm/deny/stay hush on where Michael is now living
-She will need to talk about this possible Vegas show. (Or deny it.)
-She will need to also issue a statement about James Brown passing.

And that is where we stand right now....

Michael Jackson, who studied James Brown's dance moves and desperately wanted to be him as a child, is probably not coming to Las Vegas as reported over the weekend.

Jackson, who's been staying in Ireland, is terrified of returning to the U.S. and doesn't actually want to work. So coming to Vegas over Christmas and promising to put on a show there à la Celine Dion is unlikely.

Jackson has been convinced by his primary connection to the world, his three children's nanny Grace Rwaramba, that he would be arrested for something if he set foot in the U.S. Sources tell me that Jackson has not spoken to any members of his own family since he left the U.S. for Bahrain in June 2005 following his acquittal on charges of child molestation and conspiracy.

As late as last week, I was being told by those familiar with the situation that Rwaramba and Jackson's latest manager, Raymone Bain, were threatening friends of the singer with arrest if they tried to visit him in Ireland. And while there have been fleeting reports of Jackson working with contemporary hit-makers on a new record, there's no confirmation of it.

More recently, Jackson backed out of a promotional trip to Japan that was set for Dec. 19. Ten days earlier he had confirmed the trip, making the whole thing as wacky as ever in his world. Bain then announced Jackson would make the Japan trip in March, and charge $3,400 per person for fans to meet him. Bain obviously subscribes to the adage that "there's a sucker born every minute."

Meanwhile, should Jackson return to the U.S., he would be inundated with process servers in a number of civil matters. Chief among them: a $48 million lawsuit that's proceeding through the New York courts. Several former attorneys are also suing him for non-payment of fees. And a return to America would make him vulnerable in his ongoing, and as yet unsettled, custody case with ex-wife Debbie Rowe .

No matter what's been announced, I can tell you that the situation is not resolved as reported.

While him moving to Vegas and performing there, (be it a one off show, or a contracted gig) is still up in the air. There is one thing we do know.

He is currently in Las Vegas.
