When you watch a movie,don't you just love a happy ending with a great song? Y'all know what I'm talking about.Remember the 1977 classic film 'The Goodbye Girl'? Remember the ending when Elliot has to leave Paula? He finally got a movie role,so he must leave her.It's raining and Paula is feeling sad and depressed.Just then,Elliot calls her from a nearby payphone and asks her to come with him.A few seconds later,the theme song by David Gates begins playing...

I love the music they play during the credits for E.T. The Extra Terrestrial. It starts off with this beautiful hectic piano playing, and perfectly caps off the movie.

And of course, when the guitar starts playing during this scene at the end of Brokeback...

One of the best in years was the end of High Fidelity featuring Stevie Wonder's "I Believe," which is closing track to the impeccable Talking Book.

Another was the end of Goodfellas, which featured, I believe, the Sex Pistol's cover of "My Way."

Yet another was the end of Malcolm X, which closed with Arrested Development's "Revolution."

Another nice one: the end of The Breakfast Club feat. Simple Minds' "Don't You . . ."

Reality Bites used 'All I Want is You' by U2 in the segment right before the end of the movie, and if I remember correctly, 'Stay (I Missed You)' by Lisa Loeb around the same time also. Think both songs were used really effectively here.

Without a doubt for me is from the film "Orca". The film opens and closes with the most beautiful music I have EVER heard in my life. The song is "My Love, We Are One". There are two versions of the song, an instrumental and a vocal version. The one that brings tears to my eyes everytime is the instrumental version.

I like the ending of Saturday Night Fever with "How Deep Is Your Love" as well.

I love the ending when they're walking on the beach and "In The City" by Joe Walsh comes on. I always sing along

I also love that they played "Echoes In My Mind" by Mandrill in the film!!!

I have not seen this flick in some years, but if not mistaken "The Rose" starring Bette Midler as sung by Bette Midler.

Good pick. The scene where Glenn is running away from the funeral after "It's So Hard To Say" moves into "Reach Out" was brilliant and perfect for the footage. The little smile that comes across Glenn's face when then freeze it was genius. Both songs captured the mood of the character and the way it ended on a "looking to the future, I'm going to make it" vibe was beautiful. Again, excellent pick.

Since most of the ones I wanted to stae have already been mentioned (Cooley High, The Rose, Goodbye Girl), all I can think of right now is Wicker Park using Coldplays "The Scientist"

Hey wait, I got one. Car Wash!

Of course, who can forget "The Graduate" when Dustin Hoffman's character is speeding down the Golden Gate Bridge trying to get to the church where Ms. Robinson's daugter is getting married, and they are playing Simon and Garfunkel's "Ms. Robinson" in ever slower motion as he runs out of gas and the car stalls.

Then there's the end of "Pretty Woman" where they play Roxette's "It Must Have Been Love" as Richard Gere runs back to Julia Roberts on the fire escape.

And there's the end of 8 Mile, where they play Eminem's "Lose Yourself," which sort of wrapped up the whole theme of the movie.

As for those John Hughes movies, the songs at the end of "Sixteen Candles" and "The Beakfast Club" were great picks, but I would add "Pretty In Pink" to that list as well, since they played OMD's "If You Leave" towards the end of the movie.

And at the end of "She's All That" they played "Kiss Me" by Sixpence None The Richer.
