Madonna's new CD/DVD...maybe this isn't a "Secret" This must be news to me because I figured that the new "I'm Going To Tell You A Secret" set was supossed to include the uncensored "American Life" video....so where the fuck is it? I found the set early and bought it right away but now I feel like bringing it back I'm so pissed! I just kind of flipped through the menus and didn't notice the video, just a bunch of clips that appear to have been edited out of the movie. Really pisses me off. She just does this thing with half ass compilations way too often! The CD should have been all the songs from the tour live!

The "American Life" video is not included in the set Shame on Madonna and Warners for getting fans excited about it,then changing their minds.Oh well....you can see it on YouTube, the complete,un-edited "director's cut".
I guess, after all this time, she's still too chicken to release it

I guess, after all this time, she's still too chicken to release it I highly doubt she had anything to do with this....I sometimes think that sometimes Madonna isn't as hands on as she used to be, especially when it comes to DVDs and compilations (in this case, both). I mean, she's on tour (a different tour!) so this is a strange release that she can't even promote! I just hope she (or someone) will finally do a complete video collection. Enough with these half ass compilations that edit shit out!

what's your opinion of the documentary?

I was actually suprised this release was even packed with extras at all. I thought they would take the dvd and shove it in cases and throw it on the shelves.
But they managed extra scenes and a live cd. The cd is meant to be a soundtrack for the movie, which is why not all performances were included. I agree though, I would have liked to have the entire tour on cd.

I agree, the timing of this release is really odd.She releases a documentary of a previous tour right when she's in the middle of a new tour??!! They should have released this thing around last Christmas, sold a million copies and moved on.

I thought it was pretty darn good for a demo. Of course, i'm happy they made it more dance oriented for Confessions's theme.

i picked up a copy of the audio portion yesterday. i really liked the documentary when i saw it on MTV, so i may pick it up this week...but the idea of madonna live on CD is kinda silly, especially the mimed parts. i know, i know - some of the backing tracks were exclusive mixes for the tour...but still. c'mon. release those mixes as the soundtracks without the pretense of audience noise. miss lady is a great stage performer. she's not a live musician. i can see why the CD is thrown in as a bonus for fans.

I should really pay attention, I didn't realize this was actually SERIOUSLY being released finally. I'll have to read a bit about it before I buy.

I'll likely get it. If only to be able to see the live footage by easily skipping all the snoozey parts of the doc, rather than having to 'fast forward' all of it.

I guess, after all this time, she's still too chicken to release it Or, maybe it's an easter egg (or whatever they call those hidden things on DVDs). It just came out today, so there's a possibility it's still on there and no one has found it yet. I've seen other press release sheets on DVDs that list the entire content of the DVD including hidden "eggs" without indicating that they were actually hidden. It happened on a DVD from the Scissor Sisters last year.
