I saw this on an Uk version of vh1 worst videos ever. its the worst tv performance ever. This kid is scary, and hilairious.

bobby conn is kind of a local legend here in chicago. i saw him once live, when he opened for chicks on speed at the empty bottle. i'd heard his latest album at the time, which i really liked - it was a concept album about a male prostitute, and his vocals were somewhere between david byrne, david bowie and prince, so what was there not for me to like?

anyway, his performance was pretty funky, even though he and his band were all dressed like they were at a ren faire. that was bizarre. he has a screw loose, sure, but at least he's not boring.

I dont get some of u americans. Too religious nutter syndrome for me. That performance is terrible. He was way outta sync, and he just acts like he's doing amatuer dramatics. The song is some kinda throwback to some 60's nonsense. About "the man" getting him down or whatever? In UK, we find fruitcakes like him too funny for words. Some americans seem to see Bobby as some "messenger from god" probably. Sure he ain't boring, but sorry, that song is absolutely terrible. His intro is just like all that evilangelist babble that makes the USA look like simpletons

Listen to this dude speak, He's off his head. Damn, some of u guys take him seriously eek

i think it's all a very big joke and he passes himself off as serious. kind of like a crispin glover kind of thing. very surreal, dada, performance art mixed with music. i mean, come on - even chunky d. and mc skat kat were based on characterizations, you have to admit.

I guess i can see that. So he is a characterure of zany religious people? I know i listen to what people call "shit" music, but ? Maybe his music is interesting, and heck, after repeated listens, the song does stick in ur head, but that performance was to much. USA have some weird music. Maybe i've ust tapped into it?

Okay, even though this thread is probably dead now...

Since I checked that video out I haven't been able to get Bobby Conn off my freaking mind.

What an absolutely bizarre, strange, surreal guy he is. I've been looking him up all over the net.

I must say I'm getting hooked.

I was getting ready to laugh at him from this video, now all I want to do is buy his albums.

my biggest problem with bobby conn is that he's not weird ENOUGH. or that he's not focused enough on his musical talent. i mean, i love a couple of his songs - "no revolution" is funky as can be, and his song "whores" is right out of bowie's "young americans" album...but it's overshadowed by his freakshow act, which never really seems to go anywhere. the guy's got a lot of talent and imagination, i'd just love to see him commit to it one way or the other - preferably both. he's worth exploring, but he's a little frustrating.

Yeah thanks.

I've watched everything on Youtube, and all the media on Bobby's site already smile

And I've read some Q&As and a couple interviews too, though a lot of the sites seem to be fed by each other, so it's hard to put any stock in their credibility. Sites are even giving me two different "real names"

But I haven't been disappointed with anything yet. He seems absolutely loaded with talent. He's quite an enigma,
