EUROVISION SONG CONTEST 2006 - The Official Thread

neutral

Last year I logged in here during Eurovision night and there were some orgers watching the show and commenting live on the songs. I thought it was fun. Will there be something like that tonight? (I'm asking because most of those orgers countries have not qualified for the finals)

I liked the Lithuanian entry :"We are the winners of Eurovision"

We are the winners of Eurovision
We are, we are! We are, we are!
We are the winners of Eurovision
We are, we are! We are, we are!

So, you gotta vote,
Vote, vote for the winners
Vote, vote, vote for the winners

We are the winners of Eurovision
(de Vilnius city a Paris)
(LT United ici)
We are the winners of Eurovision
(chantons la meme chanson)
('cos we got it goin' on)

Everyday you hear us on the radio
(that's right)
And everyday you see us on the news
(yeah)
It doesn't matter in mono or in stereo
(it's better in stereo)
'cos we are here to represent the truth that

We are the winners of Eurovision
We are, we are! We are, we are!
We are the winners of Eurovision
We are, we are! We are, we are!
Go baby!

We are the winners of Eurovision
We are, we are! We are, we are!
We are the winners of Eurovision
We are, we are! We are, we are!

We are the winners of Eurovision
We are the winners of Eurovision
We are the winners of Eurovision
We are the winners of Eurovision

You gotta vote, vote, vote for the winners
Vote, vote, vote for the winners
'coz we are the winners of Eurovision
Vote!

Unbelievable!!! lol

It would have been really nice to see Iceland in the finals though, that chick was really entertaining. Most of the acts not to qualify for the finals were lingerie acts anyway, at least Silvia Night was smart about her approach. Yet still managing to look slutty! That's the sign of a real Eurovision talent.

I completely agree. I could barely stand a few seconds of most entries in the semifinal (blessed TV remote lol ) but There were some songs that stood out and hers was one of them. Not just the song but the attitude and all nod

Did anyone see the Semi-Finals on Thursday? biggrin Horrid! lol

When I saw Finland's entry I just about died. But then, I WOULD vote for them. WHat a refreshing change! biggrin I can't even believe they got THROUGH though for the final.

I make a point to make a whole evening out of Eurovision every year. It's beyond bad, and getting worse. Some of these acts are truly horrendous. There is one constant though:

1. wind machines

2. back-up dancers that look like strippers (male and female) and doing the cheesiest, most cliché, tired old moves...

3. props, props, and more props

It's all to mask the fact that it's near impossible for anyone (especially the type of people who would even enter such a contest) to actually write a good song anymore. Plus, it's all politics anyway.

Not that Eurovision was ever really about GOOD music anyway though. razz

Looking forward to it tonight! Although I'm supposed to go to a dinner party tonight. I have to think of an excuse to slip out early so I can watch it. evillol

And I can't believe Turkey got through. disbelief That "Superstar" song. "blah blah blah SUPERSTARRRRR.....HEEEEHOOOOmumble something-or-other....."

God that was annoying. The song sounded like Jamiroquai though, if the vocals weren't in there. lol That says something though I guess, that I even remember it. confused She couldn't sing and what was up with that outfit?!

Andorra's contribution on the other hand was pure class. I meant trash. Are there even so many good-looking women living in Andorra who are willing to dress up in lingerie in public?

Then again Eurovision really hasn't been the leading force in supporting the women's liberation movement, has it?

And I tell, the Russian contestant was probably the worst performer I have seen in my life. I was so embarrassed by that person, that I alsmost felt embarrassed also by myself. It was unbearable watching that guy. Unfortunately, there must exist millions of Russian women who think he is beyond hot.

Oh yeah, I couldn't get past his clothes for one. lol Actually, I didn't even watch him much, I was watching the ballet dancers.

It was a joke act.... Silvia Night is a character played by Icelandic actress Ágústa Eva... "Silvía" became famous in her own TV show here in Iceland last year... And basically the last week, or since she and her crew came to Greece, has been a week-long "sit-com".... She sent letters to all the members of press.... In the letter to the Danish press, she said that her grandfather was Danish, in the English letter her grandfather was English etc.. biggrin .... Also the booing was because she shouted at some technicians at rehearsal (all part of the act): "Fucking geeks" but I think someone took it as she said "Fucking Greeks".... (here's a clip (second half of the clip) of her being rude at rehearsal and removing a "reporter" from the press conference biggrin ) This of course pissed off the Greeks... Also she said in an TV interview she wanted to buy G-strings for all the poor Greek children... After the results of the semi-final she stormed her dressing room and hocked a loogie at the press lol(clip of this here,in the 2nd half of the clip) .... she also claimed that the Swedish contestant had slept with one of the organisers of the competition, who happens to be Swedish, to get her into the finals lol ... So basically the whole Silvia Night is a joke, although it's joke that's too complex for most people to comprehend in only 3 minutes.... The "We Are The Winners" song had a joke which was much easier to follow, and I think that made the difference for them.

P.S. A little known fact: Most Icelanders are Eurovision geeks at heart razz
