I need some albums from these Ladies!

I absolutely love "The Broadway Album"...get the remaster, shouldn't be hard to find.

As for Donna, I like "Walk Away: the best of 1977 to 1980," some definite classics on there IMHO.

Casablanca released this cheap compilation as a way of sabotaging Donna! She had just left the label after a long,bitter lawsuit and she was preparing to release a new album 'The Wanderer' on the newly formed Geffen Records.To compete with this new album (and confuse listeners),Casablanca slapped together a cheap compilation,released a year-old song as the single ("Walk Away"),and released it around the same time as 'The Wanderer'.The album cover/packaging looks like a tombstone (lol),with no pictures of Donna whatsover.It was a cheap attempt to get revenge.

Get the full version of Donna's "Try Me, I Know We Can Make It". You'll literally be in disco heaven.

You should try the album "Superman", if only for the beautiful title track,
and "New York state of mind"



The "Barbra Joan Streisand" album contains some decent Carole King numers,
and a memorable medley of "One less bell to answer/A house is not a home"




The Donna Summer album to get first is the 2-disc compilation, "Anthology",
because you get the 70s hits, and some of her 80s hits, like the silly,
but addictive "This time i know it`s for real" and "I don`t wanna get hurt"

I'm not sure if that album is in print and while it's great and pretty definitive, "Gold", a two disc collection which is avialable for various aritsts including Donna, Neil Diamond, Kiss and others, is her best collection, IMHO. It's a double disc that include nearly all of the tracks from "Anthology" but is up to date and includes a mix (although not a great mix) of "You're So Beautiful", a recent dacne hit of hers. The only problem with it in comparison to "Gold" is that it cuts the lovely but non-single "Friends Unknown", only has on "ONce Upon A Time" single and is missing a few others.

I think her best studio album is "Once Upon A Time". It doesn't have any signature hits but it's one of her most beloved albums by fans and critics. It's an epic that includes a lot of different styles, a not very developed but nice "Cinderalla" concept along with some amazing song writing and pipes from Donna. It might take a while to get into but it's addictive. I have it in nearly every format.

Seeing live DVD concerts of both ladies has got my respect. The VH1 DVD for Donna Summer from 1999 her effortless voice blew me away. I've got the '94 Babs DVD and again, she's wonderful but there's a couple of live cuts from 60's TV shows as a bonus and she kills them.

I`ve seen a compilation of 12" mixes on ebay, but i don`t know if it`s worth the money.
