Michael Hired Gay Porn Producer Unknowingly?

Well, not really...but that's what Sony claims...read on:

Porn Producer Derailed Jacko Song?
Fri Jul 12, 2:30 PM ET
By Mark Armstrong

Just when you thought Michael Jackson's megaphone-toting tirade against Sony Music and Tommy "the devil" Mottola couldn't get any weirder, now comes a brand new controversy involving a gay-porn director.

Yes, really.

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Jackson's never-released September 11 charity single, "What More Can I Give?", was halted by the Gloved One's own advisers after they found out the song's producer had ties to the gay pornography industry.

The revelation appears to contradict Jackson's claims earlier this week that Sony blocked the release of the song as part of its alleged "conspiracy" against him. The song, featuring artists such as Mariah Carey, Ricky Martin and Justin Timberlake, was performed just once, at the post-9-11 benefit concert in Washington, D.C., last November.

Last weekend, the erstwhile King of Pop marched through the streets of Harlem, flanked by the Reverend Al Sharpton and lawyer Johnnie Cochran as they protested the music industry's treatment of artists--most notably, Sony's treatment of him. The threesome have formed a coalition aimed at investigating whether the industry is cheating artists out of profits.

But according to internal documents obtained by the Times, the "What More Can I Give?" debacle can't be blamed on Sony. Jackson's advisers purportedly asked the music giant not to release the single after they found out the popster had hired F. Marc Schaffel as the executive producer, and that Jackson also gave Schaffel the rights to the song.

Of course, Schaffel's resume also includes producing and directing "dozens" of gay porn videos.

"It's no secret that my background is in the adult film business," Schaffel told the Times. "I don't keep anything in my life hidden. I'm Michael's friend...I think this was just a smokescreen sent to shut this single down because of a bigger fight going on. It's a shame because, in the end, so many people could've been helped."

Not helping matters was another decision by McDonald's to nix a multimillion-dollar deal to sell the single in its restaurants. Sources told the Times that the fast-food giant backed out because it was reticent to team up with Jackson following his child molestation case in 1993, which Jackson later settled out of court for $20 million.

Jackson, Sony and McDonald's did not immediately return calls for comment on the report. Jackson's camp confirmed to the Times only that they severed ties with Schaffel once they found out about his background.

The developments certainly don't help Jackson in his nasty battle with Sony and its chairman, Tommy Mottola, whom he has blamed for the lackluster sales of his latest album, Invincible. The disc sold just 2 million copies and dropped out of the top 200 by May.

"The record companies really do conspire against the artists, especially the black artists," Jackson told protesters last Saturday. He also singled out Mottola, saying he is "mean, he's a racist and he's very, very devilish," before holding up a doctored photo of the Sony bigwig with devil horns and the caption, "Go back to hell, Mottola."

Sony called Jackson's diatribe "ludicrous, spiteful and hurtful," especially considering that the record label spent a whopping $25 million to promote Jackson's last album.

Meanwhile, the tabloids are working overtime with reports that Jackson alleges he was "threatened" by Mottola, not to mention claims that Jackson is simply acting out because he's in deep financial trouble.

Is this Sony's idea of "getting' Michael?...c'mon, they're gonna have 2 do better than that.

How does the L.A. Times obtain "internal documents" without someone paid 2 leak them...I smell a rat.

Sony is using this 2 hit Michael where they think he can b hurt...do they not know the magnitude of his fan's loyalty? This (imo) only makes Sony look bad.

I was shocked to find that most of Mandy Moore's videos were shot by a pornography producer. What could he possibly bring to a Mandy Moore video shoot except for a knack for degrading females and selling them as pieces of meat.
I think Mandy Moore should be put in foster care because her parents showed such irresponsibility in letting this happen.
As for Michael and his gay porn, it would seem that his people would not allow a scandal such as this to happen. Michael has so many rumors circulating about him that this is just a terrible oversite on the part of his handlers.
I remember seeing that boy on the Ed Sullivan show. I knew he would be something special. Unfortunately he seems to have become "special" for all the wrong reasons and people are more interested in his image than in his talent.
This is such a waste. I hope Michael finds happiness, but I don't think the porno industry is the way to do that.

MJ (and others) pays his handlers to advise him. if he wants to do something, he does it, whether the paid employees think it's a good idea or not. too many times, friendships ruin business relationships. looks like this may be one case where loyalty bites someone on the ass.

I also strongly believe that tv and radio shows, and other media
outlets sponsored by SONY are in on it too (smearing MJ by bringing
up his baggage and this latest bit of news). I listen to the John Laws via the internet
(radio talk show host in Austalia) bashed MJ the other day and called
him a child molester and then proceeded to endorse SONY a MAJOR
sponsor of his show! SONY is going to do EVERYTHING in its power to
destroy MJ. If other labels join in and criticise MJ its because they
too have probably ripped off their artists (who aren't aware of it!)
and don't want MJ to rip the lid of the corruption that occurs in the
music biz! Last year when Prince had a "Ask Prince" section at his
old site he was asked why other performers from D'angelo and Lenny
aren't getting a fair deal from their record labels yet stick with
them, and he replied its because of FEAR...the fear of being black
balled in the music industry...and lets face the facts here, ever
since Prince has been telling like it is, he IS treated by the
mainstream press like MJ as a bitter hasbeen taking on the big wigs
who have made him rich (but what the public DON'T release that its
the record labels who get the biggest slice of the pie, while their
aritsts get CRUMBS! llook what happened to TLC and Toni Braxton, both
artists were selling millions of albums, yet both filled for
bankrupcy! Dixie CChicks are experiencing the same thing too). Others
have tried to address tthese issues eg. from Little Richard, Chuck
and even Prince, but MJ whether U like him or not has the BIGGEST
profile and as a result everyone is talking about his issue in the
mainstream press! MJ has opened the pandora books and the shit has
yet to fit the fan! That is why they are going after him with so much venom!

The same article also claims McDonalds 'all of a sudden' found out MJ was charged with child abuse in 1993 and that's y they backed out. How ridiculous is that?
Or that is was MJ who wanted the charity pulled while Sony released a statement saying THEY pulled the single bcause they thought they had done enough with the september 11th cd. This article is so flawed one has 2 wonder whether the media is out to get MJ, or the media is manipulated by others 2 get MJ. Must b one of the two.
