Ursula Rucker?

I've seen this woman's CD in a few record stores and it looks interesting. From what I understand her music is like spoken word/hip hop with a rock/hip hop vibe? Does anyone know about her music? What can you tell me about it?

Ursula Rucker is a poet. I had the luxury of seeing her live a couple of years back and she's very good. It was just her and a guitar player. If you're into poetry you should check her out. She's very moving. She's also funny. She talks a lot about how many kids she has and she will tell a painful story and still make you laugh at it. Don't get me wrong, she's not comedic; she's actually quite intense lyrically. She just has a way about her that's very...human. I like "Return To Innocence Lost" among others. Also check out Sonia Sanchez if you're into poets.

Cool, a myspace page for her.

I love Ursula. She's one of the poets I love to 'hear'. I first got hip to her via The Roots. Her voice and style is so distinctive. I have a couple of her tracks. I gotta check Ma'at Mama. She's worth checking out.

I can't honestly say i'm into poets but I would like to check her out. She seems funky but not in a neo soul way. Is some of her stuff kinda rockin too?

Dancerella, she works with different producers like King Brit and Josh Wink. That song Rant on her myspace page is HOT but not indicative of the album which I've been listening to snippets of. I have a track called This with Jazzanova and 7 with her an MAD. Their sorta trippy mellow electronic grooves. I don't know how else to describe them. Definitely not rockin.

Did you ever check out Saul Williams' Amethyst Rock Star? I see he's on tour with NIN.
