Give me a fucking break. I don't believe Elvis ever said anything like this at all. This is just a bunch of bullshit that some loser claims he said just to fuel the race fire. I pity you and others like you who believe bullshit such as this.

there's an article posted way back in the day that talks about elvis' respect and appreciation for black music and how most of his friends and his idols were black. So, no elvis wasn't a racist. He said he played rock n roll because he wanted to be able to sing like fats domino and that he loved the music of little richard and chuck berry, and black friends of his have talked favorably of him

Love Elvis, but I want to point out that Carl Perkins (who wrote this song) is highly underrated in my opinion. He was a great singer, songwriter, and guitar player. [Edited 2/23/06 14:16pm] My Legacy

I like Elvis a lot. "Don't Be Cruel" will always be my favorite Elvis song though. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

By the way, did you know that Elvis never actually owned a pair of blue suede shoes?? He had several other colors, but never any blue ones. Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

Elvis Presley, James Brown, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix.
Put 'em together, you got the DNA of most pop/rock music. After the Swing Era, Elvis was the chief channel for introducing real black music to middle-class whites. Early on, he had the funk (meaning he had that black, sexy, dangerous thang, but always with God in the background, and often in guilty conflict with the rock n'roll side) Sounds like someone else we know, huh?)
