Subject: Jamie Foxx - Music Special Controversy on NBC

Please take the time to forward the below message to everyone in your address
book. NBC is not doing any marketing and publicity on Jamie's Music Special on
NBC because he stood his ground and wouldn't have any white guests as they
requested. To make it even worse he had two controversial guest stars that do
not fit the "NBC profile" on his show. Tune in to find out who they are. They
are purposely putting his show up against the second week of American Idol in
hopes that it will fail. This will give them the excuse to never give another
black person a music special because "it doesn't work." Let's show them that it
does work, and that we support each other. Tivo Idol and watch Jamie. I saw
the taping, it is a good show.

Jamie Foxx making history on NBC. This is the first time NBC has ever aired an
entire young urban African American cast on a music special. We need to show
support. This was not an easy sell for Jamie and he stood his ground to make it
happen the way he saw fit.

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 25TH @ 8:00PM PST on NBC.
PLEASE MAKE IT A POINT TO WATCH!
There will be surprise special guests.

I watched the special and I thought it was put together nicely. I can only assume the "surprise guests" were Angie Stone and Stevie Wonder since Common, Snoop, The Game, and MJB are featured on the CD. I just find it very interesting that I didn't see not one commercial advertising the special. If it weren't for my friend's email I wouldn't have known anything about it.

i was flipping between this and american idol..i got 4 seasons invested in AI, so that's what i was recording..but the jamie's show was better than i thought it would. perhaps the execs at BET could take note on how to put together a semi-quality muiscal show

I don't recall it being advertized. I read about it in the enquirer or some rag sheet, and I was on the look out for it. I only saw the first 20 minutes of it, cause I had to go work, but what I saw was quite good. My husband said he was almost brought to tears when Jamie sang I wish u were here, a song about his grandmother that raised him, who passed a few years ago.

This special is what makes most pop entertainers not interesting. Jamie went too gimmicky with the props,dancers,segues, It was Vegas and Branson only less entertaining. Too over rehearsed and chock filled with guests that didn't add up to much except Stevie and Mary J.

AND the special was called Unpredictable named after his album and only thing it showed was this was a predictable pandering stage show for the audience. It almost screamed "Please Like me"

I give this special a D-. The only impact it probably made was people realize Jamie can sing and he doesn't just sound like Ray Charles doing it. But Jamie needed to have a statement on TV that showed his talents. Probably a sparse setting would have done the trick. All of the bells and whistles after a while was just pointless. The fake pregnant dancer serenading to her and the song about his grandmother? After awhile it was Panderorama.

Sort of like what Michael Jackson/Prince and R Kelly do. Pander to the audience in desperation to get a cheer or an applause or a "Woooo"

I came across it accidentally.. It was so bad I wanted to vomit. Why is he trying to be R. Kelly? Why? stick to acting Jamie..

OH, and that email you posted is total BS. A network using this as an excuse not to air a black special in the future? That is sooo bs. They want to make money. If it will get viewers, they will air it.

I got that email too. I watched parts of the show. The parts I saw were pretty good. I figured one of the controversial guests would be Kanye, but I didn't see him.

It was ok, but I really didn't enjoy it. I got boared. But like I said before I didn't feel his album. Lyrically too childish, and wanna be thuggish in some areas.

One of the songs I do like is Wish You Were Here, becasue he drops the bravado and gets real in the song. It's one of the only songs I realy feel any emotion. I can take fun and being sexy, but come on Jamie. It boarders on vulgar some places.
