"Ask the lonely" by the Four tops

Who else like this song? To me, the Four tops were just as good as the Temptations, just listen to "Ask the lonely!!

This song is achingly beautiful. I love how Levi Stubbs uses his natural low register here.

Definitely among my favorite Four Tops songs, and truthfully, I'm a much bigger Tops fan than I am a Temptations. Someone may kill me for admitting this, but the Temptations... ain't really my thing. neutral

That`s how i feel too. Their (temptations) slow songs are okay, but songs like papa was a rollin` stone or treat her like a lady is not for me.

I love this song too! The Tops always did seem to function in the shadows of the Temps.

These guys were just as bad as the Temptations. Levi ain't nothing to mess with and their harmonies are still some of the best I've ever heard. Ask The Lonely is a killer wink

I certainly agree that the Tops were as good as the Temps. I am a huge fan of both. It just seems that most would be much quicker to tout that Temps as the quintessential Motown male group rather than any other. Am I wrong?

I saw the Temps earlier this year and they were simply amazing.

I'm just sad to hear that Levi isn't in good condition these days, health-wise. sad

Actually you are right. I think people just naturally tend to lean in toward what's most popular. But we know the Tops could (and still can) hold their own smile

Yeah. Mr Stubbs has seen better days but his spirit is still very high.
And R.I.P. to the one and only, Obie Benson.
