"I Remember Yesterday" - Donna Summer - Appreciation Thread

This album is the shit, even though it's pretty much forgotten (like most of her albums outside of Bad Girls & Once Upon A Time). Who else thinks this is a great album?

Fav tracks:

Love's Unkind
Back In Love Again - girl group meets disco!
Take Me - hot!
Can't We Just Sit Down (And Talk It Over) - a great ballad, maybe her best
I Feel Love - need I say more?

i need to get this one...every donna/moroder album before 'the wanderer' is an album i'm interested in hearing. her little scat solo in 'i remember yesterday' always cracks me up....i've always pictured miss piggy lip synching it, ever since i was little.

yeah, i'm weird.

This album is very "summertime-ish" to me.When I play it,I instantly think of the long, hot summer afternoons of the late 70s.I really miss that era!

Best track is "Take Me".Shoulda been the first single, imo.

A fine short album. Probably her best at the point although I really like "Fou Seasons of Love".

Definately proved she was much more than just a singles artist.

You know I love this album! You really have been listening to Love's Unkind lately, haven't you? I said it before and got laughed at, but I'll say it again - this album is similar in structure to Madonna's I'm Breathless. Both are period pieces (of sorts) capped off with a highly influential dance song; I'm Breathless with Vogue and I Remember Yesterday with I Feel Love. Madonna's is devoted to one specific era in time, while Donna's album is a trip through the decades of popular music. Of course, this is coming from somebody that really loves that Madonna album, and yeah, bitches I know there aren't many of us. lol

Outside of I Feel Love, I can never get enough of Black Lady. That song is absolutely ripe for a drag number or striptease! Oh, those opening horns! It's so bawdy and audacious I can't help but love it. The drama of Take Me makes it almost as good as Black Lady, but that damn dude in the background singing "I'll make you a woman" nearly ruins it for me.

Good pick! One of my faves from La Donna.

Yeah, he is. And the way he pronounces it. "I'll make you a whoa-mun."
