Man, you're gonna make me check into his early work. I have to admit I'm not really familiar with it. I didn't really notice him until the 80s by the time he was producing for Aretha, Whitney and making tracks like... "Divine Emotion"

I think you're pretty familiar with my tastes... give me a good starting point.

His early stuff is a combination of Everything: Jazz Fusion, Mellow Soul/R&B, Pop, Rock, Disco, Calypso, Ballads, etc...actually, this one, I Cry, I Smile(his second album) is probably a good place to start, this one and his third album, Awakening...

his first album, Garden of Lovelight is more of a Jazz/Rock fusion album, featuring players like Jeff Beck,Carlos Santana, Will Lee, David Sancious, and Stanley Clarke

My copy doesn't have "Play Dead" on it. Wasn't that from a soundtrack?

... I don't know why but musically, I've been on a Spike Lee kick lately. Last week it was soundtracks... this week it's original scores.
