Songs ruined by commercials

What songs for you have forever been ruined by hearing them on a commercial?

"See for me that song is now associated with some dreadful adverts for Bingo here in the UK. My liking for it has decreased with ever single airing of that advert." - CrozzaUK, on 'A Night To Remember' by Shalamar (1982)

Whenever I hear "Cool Jerk" by The Capitols, I unfortunately think of Cool Whip. sad

For others, Devo's Whip It has been ruined by Swiffer.

Hard for me to think of any but I have a few that I loved even more from commercials which surprises me.

Anything commercial that includes the songs Celebration by Kool and the Gang--but I wasn't that crazy about it in the first place.

pissed I almost forgot about that! A great tune, and damn if they don't pick weird songs for those fucking Tampax commercials. A woman's period isn't a time of the season...it's a time of the month. Maybe I should just be grateful they didn't change the lyric to reflect that.

I like that Garnier song by the Transplants, "Diamonds and Guns". I had never heard of them until that commerical, so it's kinda the opposite way around and I'm checking them out now smile

Sly's music for Toyota

Zeppelin's music for Cadillac

Hope the money was worth it because they become the only thing people remember the songs for.

It is a cover of the Bananarama version. So I guess it's not completely ruined, but the jingle was aired enough times to make the association for me.

Oh, and Lenny Kravitz got given his first and only #1 here with 'Fly Away' because of that car advert, and anything that uses 'Song 2' by Blur.

And don't forget the hideous re-worked lyrics of 'Reet Petite' for Persil Micro in the 80s.
