If I read it correctly in my Anthology book.. John and Dylan hung out quite a bit.. There are photographs of the two in a limozine.. I think he at least got them on the pot, I think john said that..... not sure of the other stuff.. believe they fell into the rest

I'll have to dig my ol' Anthology book up and make sure.. but I believe thats along the lines of how it went.. or was told by the Beatles themselves

I'm not a Beatles buff - what exactly did they do? Were they open about it?

As far as I know Bob used pot and amphetamines. He was the one who introduced the Beatles to marijuana, they discovered LSD on their own.

Wasn't it a dentist who "accidentally" dropped some acid into their after-dinner coffees? Only in the sixties huh? lol

Nicotine, weed, acid, booze (60s)
Nicotine, coke, booze (70s)
Nicotine, coke, heroin, booze (85-88)
Nicotine, booze (88 - 97)
Nicotine (Birth-present)

I heard that, too. Or something similar.
Maybe it was a fireman and not a dentist. Or a baker, perhaps. A beauty queen. A postman. A receptionist. A sailor. A farmer. A small slightly braindead child....

If you believe Albert Goldman:

John made Ringo test the joint Dylan handed him. When Ringo nearly fell down laughing they all decided it was okay.

The acid scared them (John & George) because, like you said, their drink was spiked. That would scare me, too. Eventually john did it again after researching it and he did it very ceremoniously. Eventually he ate it like candy. I don't think Paul & Ringo did it that much. George did it for a while, but quit before John, who was always the biggest addict of the Beatles.

Dylan must have been doing speed in the 60's, it seems. Maybe the Beatles turned him onto that.

Sounds about right. I've done it as much as one of the Beatles, wow! Interesting that he was the one who caused the outrage by admitting to using it. He & Ringo were't too psychedelic, were they?

What are your sources? I'm told he smoked some weed in a guitar shop here in the '80s or '90s.

I can believe he tried acid in the '60s, but I'm not sure I buy the coke and heroin stuff. Personally, I always thought that this idea that he was big into drugs was wishful thinking among some of his druggy fans.

After watching the PBS special and seeing some of the footage....I gotta say that some of his behavior that was shown in the footage screams HEROIN.

I've read about seven Dylan biographies and three of them agree that he was on all of the drugs I mentioned. The late eighties, in between Knocked Out Loaded and Down In The Groove were probably the worst time for him, drink and drugs-wise.

A friend of mine worked security during the filming of Hearts of Fire and said Bawb basically talked to no one outside his entourage and spent most of the time when he wasn't filming sequestered in his trailer boozing and snorting smack.
