Not that they did anything degrading. I think it's just that hip hop dance does involve skill, yet you can find muufuckas on the street that can do it. While dance training puts you in another league - so she's not just a "good" dancer, she's (or was) a real/trained dancer.
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

True true, but I see a lot of trained dancers that couldn't do hip-hop if they tried regardless of their training. Have you seen "So you think you can dance?" The most versatile dancer on there is an untrained hip-hop dancer named Ryan, imo

nod You right. In order to do freestyle/hip hop you have to be versatile a superbad as hell. Over the years, I have studied dance and went to conventions and watched many dancers stumbled when trying to do freestyle.

I'm sure Different World played a part in my decision to go to Morehouse where, incidentally, Jasmine's father was my theology professor.

Different World did hype the Black Colleges. I do know that alot of us who were going to the Black University were glad when Debbie Allen stepped aboard b/c she brought more realism to the show.

True smile I'm not saying hip hop doesn't require skill or that anyone can do it. Not any trained dancer can do hip hop.

Nah, never seen the show. I'm not disputing your point though...
